Defense will look good and I think our offense will look fine. Problem is that Ohio's defense is just bad. What I want to see is for us to get our young QB some confidence. For crying out loud, look at Brock's first game at ISU against OSU... Do you know what we didn't do? Limit him. We let him make plays and were willing to roll with the mistakes because that's how it should be. Having Rocco stand in the pocket is dumb and is what honestly limited Purdy's ability from year to year. Look at him now, running around, having fun and his coaches are trusting him not to take a dumb hit and get injured.

Yeah we need to let our QBs be creative. It's an extremely important aspect of a good offense. Your QB can't play scared of injury. Doesn't mean play stupid or you can't play ball control but your QB can't be thinking of all the things they're not allowed to do during a play.

I hear what you are saying about trying to keep Purdy in the pocket. But It likely taught him how to work through progressions and force him to stay calm and collected.

Purdy benefited from that and didn’t get injured as well. ISU benefitted from a healthy Purdy.

Yeah I'm not saying I want Rocco to play like Johnny Football out there, but I would love to see him use his legs more. Iowa has struggled defending dynamic QBs and I think it would've been beneficial if Rocco would've taken advantage of that.

But is Rocco capable of that? The few scrambles I've seen he doesn't look very quick or fast.

I thought he looked capable against UNI. Now, that's UNI and they don't have the athletes that Iowa does.

He tried to scramble one play against Iowa, had some room but really didn't get any where.
There seemed to be a few plays where I thought he could take off. But someone correct me if I'm wrong... did we really try and move the pocket at all? Seemed to me we rarely did. We were incredibly predictable overall. I will say though... We moved the ball down the field our first possession and our STs gets a field goal blocked. Sets the tone of the game. A positive overall is that our kicking and punting game looks pretty damn good.

I would've been at 100% if Ohios qb was still injured, however he's back and will be close to 100% for us after being rough this past weekend and being out for most of the game at SDSU.

Soo, I'm back to 50-60%
The kid has a future being a backup somewhere in the league, very good.

We played him last year and won 43-10. Not saying he's bad because he is good, but I'm not worried about our defense against him.

Agreed, but he sort of came into his own towards the 2nd half of the year. We'll see if we can do a repeat! Also, Ohios defense doesn't look near as bad as last year. Which I don''t like against our offense lol

One time that I can remember. And it worked.

Our defense, particularly our DBs, should do very well. As far as their defense goes, who knows. They haven't played a good offense, and they won't on Saturday either. But their defense is not even close to being as good as Iowa's defense. There will be plenty of opportunities for our offense to succeed. Just have to take advantage of them. I'll be surprised but very excited if we can get a solid running game going.
