Late-breaking development -- the winner from Alabama was DQ'd in the 5K for taking too many steps over the inside line.

Rule 15.5-3g: Steps on or over the curb with more than one step anywhere on any curve for the entirety of the race.

That moves ISU up to 2nd and 4th in the event, and 3 more team points.

Gotta pick your spots, though, and trying to out-SEC the SEC seems like a waste of resources. You can have a high team finish by specializing in only a few events.

All 28 of Washington's points were pole vault and heptathlon.
23 of Nebraska's 27 points were shot put and high jump.
All 27 of Illinois' points were in field events and heptathlon.
All 22 of BYU's points were distance events (1500/SC/10K).

Years ago, LuVerne high school had a young guy who won the 100,220, and long jump at the state meet. HE came in second, I think.
