Actually, the uproar was the result of a student making a George Floyd joke on social media. Manhattan, like most university towns, is liberal, certainly by Kansas standards. The student's tweet caused quite an eruption and many demonstrations that at the time frayed the fanbase. That seems to be passing with time and football play.

A message from President Richard Myers: The insensitive comments posted by one K-State student hurts our entire community. These divisive statements do not represent for the values of our university. We condemn racism and bigotry in all its forms.
As for Josh Youngblood, he gave us a great year and will surely find a suitable place to play in the future given his considerable talents on special teams. I really do wish him well. This kind of stuff happens, and it's best for both parties to move on.
