ISU Fans...Kudos!

I was watching some of the Orlando region yesterday and I was shocked at the fan support for the Florida schools. I thought both Florida and Florida St would have huge home-court advantages but it sounded just like the other sites. They must not take basketball as serious down there.

I agree, ours and Northwestern sounded the best on TV yesterday.

I know a Florida alum and even when their teams are really good it's a passing interest. Much like the Texas schools, football is king.

Here's to a big win tomorrow and KU getting beat Sunday! That way I can be one of 15,000 Iowa State fans in the Sprint Center next week!

I wish I could do both but as someone in their early 20s, two weekends would cost more than I'd like to spend at the moment.
As someone in the exact same boat as you, do it. I got my college roommate coming up with me after we get off work. And you'd better believe I'll be in KC if we win also. Can't put a price on a time like this.

The big Florida schools don't give two Fs about basketball. As good as FSU was this year, their home arena regularly had a LOT of empty seats. Most Seminole 'fans' wouldn't cross the street to watch their hoops teams play. They (fans in the state) don't travel for basketball unless it's been one of those seasons where the Gators made their title runs.

I was traveling during the game and listened to John & Eric do the call. It sounded like it was at Hilton - roars when we scored, crickets for them. Good work by Cyclones fans making the trip.. Sure sounded like you made a difference.

They sure did not travel well yesterday. Very few fans outside of their team allotment.

And I was sitting near a few of them to hear them boo ISU, although I thought there were quite a few there? First time at a tourney game so nothing to compare to.

Big game coming up...expect a 50-50 type of split between ISU and Purdue fans, although I know the fan base that will be louder! Absolutely great hearing the crowd trying to pump up the Cyclones when Nevada made their run(s) in the 2nd half...definitely a momentum changer!

I would bet almost anything Purdue will not have even close to the amount of fans ISU has. Iowa State really has a special fan base and I feel like we don't understand other fan bases mindset. We pack the place if its within 6 hours. We have a decent crowd within 10 hours. Most teams wont have a decent crowd if it is more than a few hours away, especially in the first 2 rounds.

I would imagine a 2/3rd to 1/3rd ISU advantage at minimum. With the throngs of ISU fans already there, buying up tickets on Friday does not leave a ton left for the Purdue fans.

I want to hear a loud crowd. Our seniors deserve nothing less.

Also, the late game time will help keep out the Purdue fans who where looking at doing a day trip from Chicago.

I'm hoping for a 75% or better ISU crowd. It really can make a difference in the game!
