Is Braun's Punishment Harsh Enough?

I don't get why people get so upset about steriods. I wouldn't mind them being legal. Seeing that baseball is a form of entertainment to the fans, I want to see the fastest and strongest players out there.

I can never understand why people become so enraged over baseball players using steroids, yet give football players almost a complete pass. A football player on steroids could theoretically smash into another player (not on steroids) and end his career - to most fans no big deal. A baseball player on steroids hits a ball 10 feet farther than he should have and it ends up a home run instead of an out - everybody wants to ban him for life. The NFL testing program catches practically nobody, yet is hailed as the model for baseball to follow.

The NFL program is unquestionably miles ahead of the MLB's, the MLB players union has made sure of that.

People are enraged over Braun because he's a liar and a coward. Takes a real POS, like Lance, to throw other people under the bus like he did to keep the lie going.

Could be wrong, but everything I've read recently about the PED suspensions has insinuated that the teams do not have to pay players who are suspended. I thought that was why all the Yankees fans are giddy at the prospect of A-Roid possibly getting a lifetime ban and thus saving their team from (paying at least $86 million over the next 4 years.

The teams don't have to pay during the suspension. The Brewers are on the hook for over $100 million when Braun comes back. The cheater will keep getting paid.

A lifetime ban would all the Yankees to get out from under that horrible A-Fraud contract.

This post. This post right here.

Did the collection guy do his job improperly? Just making sure that we aren't defending someone for doing his job improperly. Baseball has a specific set of actions that must occur with the testing process, if that process isn't followed then there is no reason to have it. Did braun need to drag the guy through the mud, no, but is it his fault the guy didn't follow all procedures to the T. nope.

Yes, the guy did screw up, hence why Braun was able to get off. But when it's now abundantly obvious that Braun WAS juicing and got off on a technicality, it casts a very poor light on the way he trashed that guy. It's one thing to trash a guy who ****s up when that **** up unjustly dirties your reputation. But to do it when you would have tested positive, even if he'd done his job properly, you lose the right to drag someone's name through the mud like that.

So just allow them in baseball?

I think Braun's penalty hurts the Brewers more than him. they are still on the hook for his massive contract, have to finish the year without him, kiss any chance of a 500 season goodbye, and oh, be saddled with a PED user as your premiere franchise player.

Basically, he gets a nice fat vacation to sit in his mansion and go to Europe or whatever. I think the clubs should have the right to void contracts, and even get bonuses back. I bet we start seeing the clubs putting more language around PED use in contracts.

Because steroid abuse can have very bad and permanent side effects. You really want every kid participating in high school sports taking steroids? Because thats what it would lead to if major league sports started to allow steroids.
