Iowa State Transfer Tracker 2025

Would Nojus have been Heise replacement next year? If so Nojus would have to been willing to get little playing team for one more year. I also think I remember seeing something on one of the boards saying Nojus was one of the players that was not happy at the end of the year. So i don't think Nojus was willing to wait one more year to possibly get playing time. Hope he does well at Pitt.

I thought during a podcast they said Nojus was gone a good chunk of the summer training for an international opportunity. So missed the bonding and work session. My personal opinion based on nothing is that he also realized he could play high level basketball without the work TJ has them put in on defense. I was 18 one time, I could see that being appealing after the exposure.

End of the day I think it boils down to Nojus not being the type of defender or physical player needed. He’ll probably end up a better offensive player than a guy like Nate but he wouldn’t be close to the defensive player, rebounder, etc

I do think Nojus upside on offense was a lot higher on offense than Nate but Nate a better rebounder and defender for sure

He has been playing fairly well at Pitt. 9.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 27.7 minutes per game.
Against typical early season opponents. He played 14 minutes and scored 5 points (2 - 7 from the floor) against West Virginia. I watched most of that game, and he really struggled to keep up defensively. While he shows flashes offensively, he still looks overwhelmed most of the time.

Yup, doesn’t mean he’s a bad player at all. Just a player whose game/strengths ultimately didn’t fit within TJs system. Sometimes you just don’t learn that until they are in the program.

Yeah, I think the narrative some people push that people who didn't work out at ISU just didn't want to work hard on defense is unfair. Some of these guys probably work plenty hard and would be solid in a more normal defensive scheme.

ISU just runs a system that requires a lot of awareness, anticipation and mental and physical speed, because it's constantly gambling for steals and any lag in rotation systemically breaks down the whole scheme. I think Jackson and Chatfield just didn't have the legs and the game maybe just never slowed down for Nojus.

However hard they might've worked, all 10 guys in this year's rotation fit the system much better
