Well - ISU Athletic Dept and University have spent a lot of money on building a permanent NEW network on campus as well as around and inside Jack Trice... and the cell carriers are involved in all of that... so while your comments reflect the situation in the past - it is a completely different, designated infrastructure today.

The ISU campus and facilities Cellular Network has been built in the last two years.

Now it is a matter of tweaking the configurations... as has been confirmed by the staff and AD Pollard.

thus... by knowing about the nuances of issues - ie- two people next to each other with vastly different service levels, etc... gives the techs info to fix the issue.
Then this is one of the biggest wastes of money in the history of Iowa State University because the feedback thus far is not a tweak of configurations to fix things...its the entire system is overloaded and unable to do its job. This is a failure of unbelievable proportions not seen since Greg McDermott was on the sidelines in Hilton Coliseum. SMS takes a split second connection to send a message and if people can't do that the system isn't even operating at the lowest possible level.

Iphone 13 Pro Max and T-Mobile I don't get much data in the parking lot but in the stadium I have no issues with data. I was able to watch other games on YouTube TV with no issues both games. My family members have US Cellular and Verizon and they had about 0 data.

Have been looking into upgrading to a 5G capable phone and noticed that Verizon touted it being more reliable on crowded networks. So I pulled up the coverage map and of course one of the only places in Ames that does not have 5G service is JTS and the tailgating lots.

Saw this in an email. Can't make first game, curious what people think of it. Did it work??

CELL COVERAGE IMPROVEMENT

Iowa State Athletics in collaboration with Information Technology Services, Facilities Planning and Management installed a distributed antenna system to expand bandwidth and transmit signals between cellular devices and service providers.
I have had no issue all year. It is much better than the past couple of years!

As a frequent complainer about cell service on Verizon, I should note that it was pretty good on Saturday. I hope they've figured it out.

I was at the OU game and had no real issues (ATT 5G phone). Was able to text and stay up to date on all my socials. Did have some trouble pulling scores through the ESPN app though.
