I’m on record as wanting to move on from Prohm. Talent wise I think we are mid pack or so. I think actual results are the same as last year.
I can’t find where I read it but I remember Prohm saying that he wants to use a 4 guard lineup this year. Unless it’s a semantics argument of who is a guard I have a problem with that. We have like 5 forwards this year. We have depth there. We also have some experience and high talent. We can’t waste that with rotating them all in one position.
I agree he is back regardless next year but that has more to do with finances in college athletics than anything.
I think positions are almost binary (e.g., guards and big men) at this point. I know we probably grew up with a tertiary system (e.g., guard, forward, center) or even with 4+ (e.g., PG, combo, wing, SF, PF, C, etc.), but fine distinctions between players at different positions is just not as much a part of the game nowadays.
Take the guards/forward in the rotation two years ago...
6'2" Wigginton
6'4" Horton-Tucker
6'5" Haliburton
6'5" Weiler-Babb
6'6" Shayok
We were essentially always playing 4/5 of them -- interchangeably, and switching on defense.
Wigginton was "PG" without PG skills, Horton-Tucker called himself a "SG" but his bulk and length had him guarding opposing 4 men all the time, and the other three were tall and lanky. But we used them all the same.
I think when Prohm says "four guards" he means four guards/forwards playing facing the basket and one true big man. Always having four of this pool of guys on the floor...

...with Young/Conditt/Foster fighting for time at the "5."
The only complication to that I might see is if Foster earns playing time and slots in well at the "4" on offense. He might make more sense as a stretch big man given his game is more facing the basket.
Of course, if Foster is that good, then you could just put him out there with four other shooters on offense and put him in the paint on defense, where I hope a 7' guy can alter at least a few shots.
