Houston KU a barn burner!

Houston won the league tonight. We desperately need to win 2 of the 3 big road games Arizona, Kansas, and Houston to even have a chance.
Houston should have lost @UCF last weekend and should have lost tonight @KU. They are far from invincible.

They still have the following tough road games:
@WVU, @Arizona, @Arizona State, @Tech, @Baylor

Tough home games remaining include: Baylor, Tech, Kansas, Iowa State

I dont see more than 3 losses though. Iowa State @ Houston is likely for the Big 12 title.

Houston looks like the best team in the league right now. Hopefully they wear down with their rugged style like they did last year. We will need to win at their place to take the regular season crown. Not a huge deal IMO if we don't win the league, but really want that 1 seed in the tourney. Houston is going to start entering that conversation for a 1 seed. A 2 seed wouldn't be bad as long as we get Milwaukee or Wichita.

I still think we are the best team in the league. This was Houston’s first “prove it” win all year. Eye test be damned.

Win @UA Monday and we are in the drivers seat.

Houston has plenty of losable games left. Tech twice, Baylor twice at WV, at Arizona, Kansas again and us. Not saying we don't need to win two of those three games, but league is far from over.

It's definitely not over but its a significantly uphill battle.

They're up a game, we have to go there and if we lose thats two back plus the head to head tiebreaker making it 3 games back (unless I have the tiebreaker wrong?).

Those of you who keep saying Baylor is a tough game are going off reputation and not based on watching Baylor. They could lose to Baylor but Baylor isn't good.

Agree on Baylor but still way too many games left. Not looking ahead because anything can happen but Arizona twice, at Kansas and the big one at Houston are the only games of big concern for us the rest of the way. I just thing Houston has a few more possible losses. We all agree that our game at Houston will be HUGE!

Tiebreaker is only for seeding. If we end up with the same record we both are co-champions and both get trophies.

This might be borderline blasphemous, but I'm wondering if Self has maybe lost a step in this new era of college hoops. Their edge was always that they could pay whoever they wanted whatever they wanted to come play there, and while they still have a bigger budget than most, NIL has made it a more level playing field. Self, since their title run in '21 has over relied on the portal and not enough emphasis on recruitment and development of high school talent. Their high school signees have either become one and dones or busts. And the transfers he has brought in have not meshed. Self, to me, has plateaued after winning the last title, or has suffered a bit in the player evaluation department too often as of late

Good info. I won't give it back, and no one will remember in 10 years, but I'm not gonna feel great about a sharing a championship with a team we lost to head to head lol.

I also wondered this. Something just seems off with them the last couple years. They aren't as tough as they used to be. And Bill knows it. Houston and us will out-tough most teams but some of the plays they get punked on are eye opening. And getting punked at AFH is very unusual.

They other thing that is odd to me is they had crazy NIL money, got a bunch of guys with talent but the roster construction is really poor. They couldn't find another shooter or two? Easy for me to say but from the outside they made weird decisions.

I mean, in an era of unbalanced scheduling I'm not.

They could win down there and we don't get the chance to return the favor up here.
