Hornaceck Out At Knicks

Should of found a way to do this as a coach

his kids grew up and got out of the house. so he snagged a quick $10m or so from the knicks - not too shabby.

I think previous administrations kind of dumped on former players. When you have 7 coaches in 24 years, former players get ignored.
SP has made a great effort to reunite the past and have them be part of the program. Jeff has all the free time now and the door is open, his daughter is welcomed too.

It's been pretty well established he has zero loyalty to Iowa State.
I went to an ISU KU game in 2011 in Allen Field House(Freds first season). Believe it or not I sat next to his wife in the nose bleads and a security guard. I talked to her for a whole half. I was slightly skeptical until he walked up the stairs and got her at halftime. Zero Loyalty is a strong word. She talked proudly of ISU.

He will never be a happy man, he always has to have something/person to complain about.

Very loudly and belligerently at that. People like Steven A and Skip Bayless are truth of how being awful gets you ratings.

If Prohm doesn't work out, does ISU go after someone like Hornacek, or has that ship sailed on both ends (I thought he had looked into the ISU job at one time).

i'm not sure how many 55 yr olds worth $30m+ want to be college basketball coaches.

Knicks and suns are up there for worst organizations with the Kings. The knicks started the year 16-13 then Porzingis got hurt. They’d probably contend for a playoff birth without him getting hurt

They've made some positive strides by dumping Phil Jackson and drafting Frank Ntlikina - the kid looks like he might eventually be an All-NBA Defense selection and a very good cornerstone piece for them.

But their future all hinges on Porzingis and his ability to stay healthy. When he's right he has as much upside and potential as anyone in the league. But the little and big injuries are starting to pile up already, and he's only 22.

Per CBS Sports: “The Knicks haven't made the postseason since 2013, and have one playoff series win in the past 18 years.”
Isn't that about when they hired Isiah Thomas? It takes about 20 years to undo the damage he does.

No, but they hired Phil Jackson in 2014 and he promptly gave Carmelo Anthony a massive contract extension that inexpicably included a no-trade clause for Carmelo. That deal became an albatross for the Knicks and it left them in limbo for three years - Melo wasn't good enough to be a centerpiece for a contender but was just good enough for them to try and at least make the playoffs with him as their best player, and either way they couldn't unload him.

I just learned this Jeff Hornacek is always welcome at ISU, if he brings his daughter.

Abby Hornacek

Elbows too pointy.

2/10

Well... maybe a 3/10 on a good day.

It was a 3 years at 15 mil so he did okay. Horrible NBA teams fire their coach every few years. Apparently D'antoni is a bad coach too.

knicks coaches

Lenny Wilkens 2004-05 40-41
Larry Brown 2005-06 23-59
Isiah Thomas 2006-08 56-108
MIKE D'ANTONI 2008-12 121-167
MIKE WOODSON 2012-14 109-79
DEREK FISHER 2014-16 40-96
KURT RAMBIS 2016 9-19
JEFF HORNACEK 2016-18 60-104

Jeff Hornacek won 48 games 4 years ago... and didn't make the playoffs. Since that point every team he has coached has been a flaming dumpster fire.

Can't do much without talent. For what they had that 48 win team hugely out performed realistic expectations. The Suns were garbage before he came and have been garbage since.

New York was a mess as well with Jackson forcing his offense, the questionable signings(Noah and to a lesser extent Hardaway), and then the injuries this year.

Agreed. The Knicks will not be a serious contender again until James Dolan is gone IMO
