Cool story with Capt America, but 5 timer & beating returning 184 champ should have gotten the Hodge. CStar never won the Hodge, right?
But previous years accomplishments aren't supposed to matter for this right? Plus Wyatt also beat a returning champion, not to mention another former champion and Olympic gold medalist.

It’s an annual award not a life time achievement.

I fully expected Carter S to win.

Nah. CStar is boring and uninspiring. Generational talent for sure. But he's the Floyd Mayweather Jr. of college wrestling... take hardly any risks and eeke out boring, low offense wins on the edge. Congrats on the Ws and Natties, you earned them. But don't cry about why the nation isn't galvanized by you. It's your boring style. WH absolutely deserved the Hodge for his season and win over Gable.

85% bonus does not seem like someone who eeks out wins. More bonus victories than the hodge winner.

Not exactly sure.

The 5 time isn’t supposed to matter for this, although we know they do. Gable was supposed to be the unbeatable wrestler, never taken down until the finals. CStar had a couple close matches with freshmen.

Many of Star's bonus victories were by 8 or 9 points. Prior to the three-point TD those would have been regular decisions. Not the case for Wyatt. The majority of his bonus victories were dominant.

I’m not comparing him to Wyatt. Pinning is awesome.

But to say Star just eeks out wins is simply not true. He’s one of the most prolific scorers in the country this year.

To be fair, you did say that he had more bonus victories than the hodge winner. I just wanted to put it into context. I agree that Star was one of the best.
