Harbaugh vs. Norvell

I know you wanted intelligent factual debate, but I gotta throw this out there because I think it represents how a majority of fans feel:

Norvell will suck the remaining life out of this program. And possibly win.
Harbaugh will breathe new life into this program. And possibly win.

You pick.

Don't people think that playing QB in the NFL for 15 years gives you some idea of X's & O's/coaching? I'm just saying, that playing for 15 years has to give you some advantage, especially if you're the one training your qb's to look at defenses out there and to make the right calls if necessary. I would think a QB for 15 years would know how to read defenses AND know what defenses work good. I guess I just consider 15 years at that position as coaching experience.

True...but he's done nothing to prove he can coach at this level. That's my biggest problem with him.

Does Norvell have enough charisma/leadership to be a head coach for team like ours that actually needs someone like that? I suppose that's for JP to determine.

I'm not overly impressed with either candidate. But if you ask me to choose between these two I'm going with Norvell. His resume is hands down better. I'm still praying JP has someone locked away we don't even know about.

I kind of hope JP pulls someone out of the blue also, some good fit that no one really thought we had a chance at or something to that effect.

I agree. Norvell is a huge mistake. No head Coaching Experience. Harbaugh IS a head coach and has 3 years experience and is a WINNER at every level he has competed. He has been a winner in everything he has done. Pollard needs to take a risk and get him. Winners ALWAYS find a way to win. Mediocrity ( Norvell) Will always be that. Dont take this safe choice and divide the Fan Base!!!!

Since this appears to be down to a two horse race (Norvell vs. Harbaugh), can someone add a poll giving those two choices to the thread? I know that there is another poll regarding the various candidates, but I would be interested to see if any of the Kragthorpe, Brewster etc. supporters would move towards Norvell or Harbaugh?

He didn't actually win too much with the Bears. :wink0st:

Sorry...neither coach has the head coaching experience we need. D IAA isn't worth poo when you get to this level. I still want an O or D coord from a BCS conf. Only type of person qualified in my mind.

One thing that bothers me about Norvell, is that looking at the message board for the Huskers, they seem anxious to get rid of him and find someone different.
