SIAP. Good story on Leo and his road from Australia to Ames. Interesting that it's mentioned repeatedly how hopes to have a couple more years in the program. He's played some special teams, correct? Wouldn't a redshirt be out at this point?

Not really sure how much someone can play and still redshirt. I don't think he has played in the last few games

Isn't there a new rule this year where a kid can play in 4 games and still redshirt? Or was that just a proposed rule? It would be great if Matt can still redshirt this year and then be dominant for the next couple!

Someone in another thread said the new red-shirt rules don't start until next year, so that doesn't sound right. But I dunno.

I thought it was passed, but hasn't taken effect yet.

EDIT: Quick google search and I don't see its been passed.

Both he and the coaches were quoted as saying years so one would assume the plan is to redshirt. Makes you wonder if you can play a percentage of the year and still redshirt. Sounds like that is something he could benefit from.

I think you could interpret "next couple of years" to include this year + next year.
