I love this years class with some solid guards and some great post players.

Brackins top 20
Garrett top 100

I was looking at Rivals top 150 of 08 and I notice that we are in with a lot of great looking prospects, now that's a far cry from a LOI but I think that the one thing McDermott and the staff are excellent at is recognizing potential before most other staffs.

Also saw that Gibbs is a top 100. I haven't seen him play but and Ive heard that Iowa is in the lead but he looks like a quality kid as well.

I think the staff deserves a lot for having done some nice recruiting after a 15-16 year.

Iowa hasn't even offered Gibbs. Where did you hear that they lead?

Psyched - Great news dude! I know nothing is carved in stone, but I was looking for some good news about Gibbs. Awesome.

Hope you are right, Psyched! The more I read the more I like this kid. Plus it will **** off the Hawks.

ISU's main disadvantage with Gibbs is the fact that we're bringing in so many guards. Gibbs supposedly can play the 1 or 2. Just this year, McDermott has Garrett, Brister, Boozer and Staiger that can play at least one of those positions. Next year, Buckley and Eikmeier come in. If Gibbs signs, that's SEVEN guys for two positions (although Staiger can probably play the 3).

There's going to be some redshirting in there somewhere, and probably some early departures. Do we see a three guard offense in the future? If so, maybe a few more guys can play the 3.

I wouldn't mind seeing a three guard offense ala Villanova. It never hurts to have depth at the guard position either.

ISU has played a lot of 3-guard line-ups in recent years with:

Tinsley, Horton, & Nurse
Tinsley, Horton, & Sullivan
Sullivan, Blalock, & Stinson

If Gibbs is that good he does not need to worry about all the guards comming in. He will simply come in and beat them out. It's the big 12. You are not guarentee's a starting spot unless you are on a crappy team. Hopefully we are not crappy in a few years.

That's what I was thinking Knownothing. If he's as good as advertised, the other guards should be the ones worried, not Grant.

I have no problem with getting the top player in Iowa each year.

Seems like McD and staff have made that a huge priority by signing Vette, and now going after Gibbs and the two freshmen.

It will create a lot of buzz around the state especially with the UI fans.

I heard this weekend, that Gibbs is leaning towards Iowa, although he hasn't visited or been offered yet. It was from a reliable source, and didnt make me very happy.

I heard the same thing from a "Fly on the Wall", so I squashed him!!!

I'm tired of hearing about "reliable sources". We have plenty of time for this to pan out. Until signing day, the only reliable source is Mr. Gibbs himself.

Gibbs will likely be a member of the Cyclone family very soon.

PsychedClone,

Have the new offers changed your opinion on whether Gibbs will soon be a member of the Cyclone family? I'd love to see this kid at ISU.

You're just jealous that you have no sources and don't get to report anything. I have a reliable source as well that says he wants to go to Iowa, but that wouldn't be right of me to put that persons name on here. What's the point of message boards, if you can't say what other people that know what's going on say?
