I took it as we shouldn't have to wait for a tragedy to happen before we make positive racial equality changes.

That was a good piece. I learned some new things from it too.

Not trying to start anything at all and no need to comment, but I can't believe this was one of the first comments. I mean there are rivalries and all, but this is sad.

I saw that too, just another Twitterhok that can't stand ISU getting national attention. They literally comment on every national sports media social media posts that put ISU in positive light. I take great joy in seeing those insecure babies squirm when ISU gets great publicity.

It didn’t take tragedy for Iowa State to allow him to enroll and be on the team though. We were the racial pioneers in this sense, and Jeff’s quote almost makes it seem as if it took Jack’s death for us to appreciate him, which wasn’t the case at all.

It did though. His death was ignored for decades at Iowa State. We forgot about it.

That was really well done. Very important for the country to see.

It was interesting to see Gene Smith so much and no JP or Wintersteen. I understand Smith was AD then, so that was understandable though.

One short clip from Smith and Johnson would have been fine. Could have used that time interview a player from that era. Still, the piece was very well done.

We saw a lot of Johnson and Smith because Smith was the AD when the stadium was named in Jack’s honor and Johnson is still at ISU. Not only that, they’re both Black, which is a voice/perspective that should be represented in this piece.

Johnson evoking the names of Taylor, Floyd and King doesn’t seem weird to me at all. Jack’s story is another name in the long line of grievances endured by people of color throughout history.

It was an awesome piece that shows ISU, its student body and alum care about equality and the representation of color in an overwhelmingly white state. It makes me proud of the university and the people of Iowa.
