Frost Buyout

Just crazy to even think getting rid of Frost after 6 games. Yeah, he didn't look like a coaching genius yesterday, so that doesn't help, but he seems like a guy that will recruit well. Players do make a huge difference, and despite the recruiting ranking, NU looks like it is slow, and lost on defense. It usually takes time to get a team back up to speed after a coaching change. Remember how bad ISU looked in CMC's first year? Especially in the first few games.

Yeah, cause Frost has always had such good defenses at his previous jaunts o_O

Also by game 6 that first CMC team was starting to look improved, this NU team looks to be headed the other directions. But this time, the worst is really behind them just like the last three weeks. Until they lose to a terrible Minnesota team.

Nothing says "We're behind you 100%" like buyout talk midway through your first year

They pretty much blew the game against NW, which is probably one of the better teams in the horrifyingly bad B10 west, so it is actually possible that they are improving. Not really cutting Frost a lot of slack, because he seems like a douse-bag with the way he throws his players under the bus, but just pointing out that it isn't always like flipping a switch when a new coach comes in.

I'm a big Scott Frost fan. Just love what he is doing there in Lincoln.

I doubt they'd chase him out. Look at this quote from the article:

Nebraska is still paying both of Frost’s predecessors, Bo Pelini and Mike Riley.

Are budgets good enough to have 4 coaches on the payroll? Not a great use of public resources (Note: I don't know how soon Pelini and Riley would be done with their payments)

kNU Administrator: "Oh, um, uh, the Athletic Department budget is totally separate from academics and state funding. NOTHING to see here..."

They weren't as bad last year as they are right now. .

But that's not the program inherited. The program inherited was on a downward trend, and was set to be worse this year under the prior staff.

Its a more difficult comparison to make, because we can't see the alternate universe in which they didn't fire the prior coaching staff, but the true comparison would be between this year's results and the expected results this year with the old staff.
