Friday OT - All By Myself

Literally just got back today from a solo week on the coast of northern California (Sonoma County). I had asked people if they wanted to go with, but it just didn't work for people's bank accounts or time off remaining. So I decided to spend a week with just me and it was kind of awesome. I've done it before, but not usually for a whole week. I didn't do much at all and that was the point. It was just good to not have to worry about anyone else's schedule or wants/needs. If I wanted to be lazy, I was lazy. If I wanted to drive somewhere, I did. If I wanted to walk a couple miles along the coastal bluffs, I did. I HIGHLY recommend time to yourself. If you can justify ditching everyone else for a period of time. (Do it.)

I'm an introvert and lived alone most of my 20s and 30s. I love my husband and child, but I sometimes miss having an entire evening to myself. No worrying about what anyone else is eating or what time the kid gets to bed. I wish I'd done a better job of savoring only having myself to worry about.

My only alone time is the two days a week I commute alone to work.
This pretty much describes me.

I do miss alone time and usually I get it on walks with the dog. I also take my motor-scooter to work out 3 days a week. About 3 times a year I'll take a hooky day from working out and just take the scooter for an hour cruise on county roads. It's amazing how connected I feel to my surroundings and I think about life, my past, my family, and growing up here in Iowa.

(It's a maxi-scooter 400cc. Not a little 50cc putt-putt. So, yes it has no problem going highway speeds. And above.)

I travel by myself all the time. Just easier that way. My favorite was when I went to Dublin to see the USMNT play a friendly with Ireland. Just felt like doing it, so I did.
