Friday OT #1 - Schlemiel Schlimazel

Andy Griffith Show. Don Knotts is a totally underrated actor.

There are others we also watch on MeTV. Very entertaining.

We cut the cord about 8 years ago, and never added any streaming because my wife gets everything she wants on MeTV. Every night is Hogan’s Hero’s (a little trope-y but still funny) > Carol Burnett Show (gold) > Perry Mason (well written noir, and a top-level procedural). It’s hard to beat that for the cost of $0 plus commercials.

I didn't watch West Wing when it was on TV, but now that it's on Netflix and I'm going to have a lot of downtime at home this winter, it might be time.

My AP Government teacher in high school would tape the show and have us watch it in class. Apparently, it was supposed to help us learn about how the government works. In reality, he just didn't want to teach and we screwed around during class.

Where can I find that to stream? It's possible I won't get around to watching it, but might try at least for the earliest episodes. I don't know if I remember it being in common syndication.
I'd like to know that too. It was in syndication in the late 90s I think. They only produced the first season on DVR.

Looks like Hulu.

Just to echo's @Angie 's point of JustWatch, that site is crucial when I switch around my streaming services or have a craving for a movie and don't know exactly where to stream it. Like I WANT and can afford to do it legally, just let me watch this **** without paying $80 in all these fees.

A VPN also helps since JustWatch lets you change the countries so you know that US Netflix might not have it but UK Netflix does or something.

I recently dusted off my Freaks and Geeks DVD boxed set for my 15 y/o son and he binged the whole thing. It's still good.

I watched that when it was on the air, and just fell in love. It's STILL so good, and it's amazing the careers that came out of it.

Since March, I've watched Hogan's Heroes, from the begining. I have 6 seasons with 2 episodes left. When I was a kid, it was on every night at 5 before dinner. It is amazing how they had so many actors come back every episode to play different characters.

thanks to COVID, I have discovered Community and have added that to my list

I LOVE Office, P&R, Scrubs, Silicon Valley, AD, and Community. I think I'd love HIMYM, but have only seen an episode or two. Not a BBT fan. But you and I are right there with our shows.

Thanks so much to @CycloneRulzzz for this suggestion bright and early this morning!

What is a show from awhile ago that you enjoyed that you are enjoying again or what is a show from the past if you had time and access would like to watch again?

This one isn't going to knock anyone over or anything, but I had originally stopped watching The Office after Michael moved to Colorado. At the start of quarantine, I started over from the first episode and watched all of the way through. It holds up so very well.

I've rewatched the OG seasons of Arrested Development several times - but I've only seen the second-to-newest season once, and not the newest one at all. I need to rewatch those.

What have you got?

I've got a couple, three, actually. I've been watching Columbo reruns. Unfortunately, there aren't too many of them to watch since Columbo was one of three or four shows that ran in that time slot. They shared the same time slot. One week you'd see Columbo, the next week it might be McCloud, the next week it might be McMillan and Wife and there were several others added later, one of which spun off into Quincy ME with Jack Klugman.

Another one I actually just finished watching was Monk with Tony Shaloub. The Sundance Network had a Monk marathon every Tuesday, and they'd run 10-12 Monks every Tuesday. It didn't take but about a few months to zip through those when you're getting 10-12 every week.

Another one I recently found on Youtube, but I've only watched a couple of them is Greatest American Hero. It was always one of my favorite shows.

The last one I don't actually watch regularly, but every time I see one, I have to stop and watch it and that's Combat! They used to run it regularly on one of those nostalgia channels like TV Land but I haven't seen it in a while.

I somehow have never watched Monk - it hit at a time when I was without cable, and I need to go catch it! I've heard it's just fantastic.

I’ve gone back and watched some Psych lately. USA had some pretty decent shows at that time. I’d like to find the old Who’s Line is it Anyways with Drew Carey hosting.

My go tos are normally Parks and Rec and The Office. I’m planning on going through Californication and Weeds again at some point. The earlier seasons of Shameless were great too.

My Polish roommate in college introduced me to 24 and I binged every single season that was out at that point. That might be a good one too.

Probably in my top five tv programs of all time. Seasons 1-4 are amazing. 5-6 had some decent moments & I felt season 7 helped end the series strongly.

I was just ready to list this and Psych as the two shows my wife and I are watching right now! Tony Shaloub is an amazing actor & he really makes "Monk" a must-watch! Hope you enjoy it!
I also am looking forward to rewatching the entire BURN NOTICE series soon.

Psych is another that I watched for the first few seasons and loved, but then kids happened, and I've never finished it. I need to do so - it's so funny and irreverent!

I love the number of "80s" references and the fact that they have some 80s stars that make guest appearances (Karate Kid Ralph Macchio, Breakfast Club nerd Anthony Michael Hall, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears, Frank Whaley, etc).

I'm re-watching this right now. I missed many episodes when it was first on.
