What are some song lyrics that have truly resonated with you, and with which you identify/that you try to model actions after/that you just really, really like?

"Never trust a big butt and a smile." - Bell Biv Devoe, "Poison"

Whenever I'm driving and someone is on the fence about merging I quote the first line from Rancid's "Time Bomb":

"If you wanna make a move, then you better come in"

For some reason, a lot of Billy Joel and Harry Chapin songs come to mind. Those guys really tell stories, and I think those lyrics ring true for lots of people.

"....and as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me....he'd grown up just like me....my boy was just like me." (and not in a good way!)

Seeing how I live in hillbilly heaven, Eminem kind sums that up at the beginning of without me

“two trailer park girls go round the outside, round the outside”

I am taking it literally and not the suggestive nature of it. Also, I do know it’s stolen from somebody but don’t remember who.

I have a similar driving line from Soul Coughing when someone is plugging up the fast lane.
“Step aside and let the man come through, let the man come through.”

Why in a world of ugly faces
should I, be allowed to be so hot
So many people without talent
yet I was born with all the magical gifts I got
The perfect body, the perfect face
it's like god's best work all in one place
But the haters hate perfection
Can't you see
It's a burden being wonderful like me

One in a million, are the odds we face
One in a million, That's a chance I'll take
Cuz when the moment comes, I'll take my chance with you

God, what a mess, on the ladder of success
Where you take one step and miss the whole first rung
— "Bastards of Young," The Replacements

We could be here all day with the Mats. Here's one I've always liked:

Cerebral rape and pillage, in a village of his choice
Invisible man who could sing in a visible voice

- "Alex Chilton," The Replacements

The dog lifts his gaze to plead
Believes the wizard has a magic stick
Leans his weight into my tweed
I give an unholy hand to lick

- "Yon Two Crows," Mark Knopfler
