You know what else is good? That vinegary German potato salad is pretty good.

Ok yeah, potato salad is pretty good (though I like my grandma’s potato salad better which is served cold).

Also everyone hating on mashed potatoes clearly has never had them prepared properly.

I sincerely do NOT get this. I make some good mashed potatoes, and all it is is potato, milk, butter. No gravy needed.

And it gets even worse: I don't really like beer

Also German...no sauerkraut, no beer. Granted, I'm about two generations removed from some Germans that liked their beer too much, so that's a good reason to stay away.

Definitive no's to green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.

Stuffing - depends on how it's made

Turkey and mashed potatoes - absolutely yes. And, I was pleased to find out my MIL makes the same vegetable casserole my mom does...California mix vegetables with Velveeta and Ritz crackers baked on top.

Speaking of crackers...I'm all about a meat and cheese plate with some Ritz/Club crackers at Christmas.

terrible. My great-grandma's sweet horseradish pickles are the BOMB. Also, the child LOOOOOOOVVEEEESSSSSSS pickles.

Our daughter has been nicknamed "Pickle" since about nine months because it's the only food she would steal off of our plates. Our son would cut a b**** for black olives.

Why do we always have bread/rolls with a Huge Spread of a Dinner?
"hey, there is an endless supply of Meats, Mash'd/Gravy, Green Bean Cass, Corn Cass, Stuffing, Shrimp Plates, cookies, 80 kinds of awesome Deserts, Coolers full of Busch Lattes"......nah, lets fill up on plane-jane Bread/Rolls....

Corn/cornbread Cass Supreme
Smoked Oyster on Ritz
Deserts

Could do without-
Pumpkin Pie- Sooooo Meh. Give me peach or apple, or french silk, or Pecan
Corn/Mac Cass- Runnie Corn mixed with Too starchy overcooked Noodle glop. yuck.

We do triscuits with cream cheese a smoked oyster and a dash of tabasco for appetizers. Delish!
