Direct them to the International Listening Association. As an interesting aside, my uncle was a pioneer in the formation of the ILA and is in their Hall of Fame.

It doesn't happen a lot, but . . .
People that are clearly gossiping when you enter a room or elevator; then they pause, lower their voices, but continue to gossip --- but still loud enough that you can hear them.
Like "I know this is kind of inappropriate, but maybe if I loud whisper, he will just pretend like he can't hear me!!!"
