Found this gem on iowa's rivals site

that is what I worry about, Iowa could double CPR salary and still pay less than they do for KF. Not that Iowa is looking for a new coach, but someone with big money is going to come calling.

Just hope that we can pay enough to keep our coaches.....or that they have loyalty to the program. I'd think our bball coach would stay even if offered 2x or 3x the money elsewhere. (I would have said the same about Sanderson tho....so you never know.

The new bump in the TV $$ should really help give our coaches raises if need be. And at this current rate, if a big name school comes calling, we need to up the ante as much as we can to keep them. I really like all of our coaches but, we especially need to keep Rhoads, Hoiberg, & CJL. They understand what it takes to win at ISU and have so far proven they can do it.

Even if the Iowa job was open, Paul Rhoads would never leave Iowa State to go there. You just don't switch to your instate rival

I'd add Coach Fennelly to that group...man bleeds cardinal and gold.

Doesn't he already have a lifetime contract?
I do agree, though. I just didn't add him to that list because I think this is his final coaching stop.

I think if he was serious about leaving because of money, we would up the offer. I also believe he would give us a hometown discount.

Gah. You're right...my bad. I forgot about the lifetime contract. Just wanted to make sure he was nentioned in the conversation about bringing a winning tradition to ISU.

It'll be a sad sad day in Cyclone Nation if CPR ever decides to leave, I (like most of you I'm sure) hope he retires a Cyclone

Remember it's not the AD that pays Rhoads his salary- it's the fans. That means donating to the program and getting butts in seats at the game.

Fennelly's "lifetime contract" was only a 12-year contract, and it was signed in 2007. That's a long contract, but it's only through 2019. Hoiberg and Rhoads are both technically signed to deals that expire later than that. CJL is only signed through 2014, though.

The only fairly high-profile coach that I am hugely worried about getting lured away would be CJL. I just can't see Hoiberg ever leaving unless the university ever started really low-balling him. If BF was going to leave he would have done it when he was a lot younger than he is now. CPR...just a gut feeling but I think it would have to be not just more money offered or a slightly bigger program, but a very good situation for him to be tempted, especially if he's able to keep improving here and is able to have a competitive budget for assistants.
