Former Clone Shawn Taggart Article

If Taggart would have stayed here, his career would have ended almost 2 weeks ago...how can anyone blame him for leaving? Now he's in the Sweet 16...and still has a year of eligibility left. He could see this program is going nowhere fast. Very wise move on his part!!

Cal was on the radio today raving about Taggart, saying he is graduating this semester and working his tail off... From the article though it seems like he may be battling some depression issues...

When Sheeoyotbaggert left I definetly felt like it was good riddance. Anyone that transfers will always be a POS in my book unless it's a family health issue. I had an opportunity to watch him play live Saturday and I watched him pretty close on and off the court. I must admit, he is a different and better player. Too bad for him. If he would have stuck around and gave it his all he would be a much higher draft pick. Brackins will make more money than him. It might have been different if Sheeyotbaggert stuck around.

I don't get it. You're saying he would have been better off playing at ISU than Memphis?

am I the only one trying to figure out how he can even think he can make it to the nba after this year?

First off... who cares... I don't miss him. He's a thug.

Second... HOW IS HE GOING TO MAKE THE NBA NEXT YEAR!?! HE DOESN'T EVEN START FOR MEMPHIS!

He has some issues going on inside that oversized head of his. He always reminded me too much of Acie Earl.

I would much rather have earl. His shot blocking changed games. Plus he had a heck of a fade, with a part in it!

He would have trouble making any pro squad...NBA, NBA D-League or overseas. The kid is a toothpick, and plays like a sissy school girl with no intensity. He is and always will be overrated.

I never liked him either. he always seemed completely lost out on the court. Didn't break my heart when he left. Good luck to him, I am glad it worked out.

Okay I go against the grain in this particular thread and won't spew venom his way. I liked Taggart, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, being sick his freshman year. I think we would have been a hell of a lot better with him and Brackins in the lineup. We would have made the Tournament. He's a signficant part of the #2 team in the country.

I'm not going to bash guys because they left our program. I'm sure they were upset about Morgan getting canned and a lot of them may not have wanted to play in GMac's system. We can bash them all we want but it's likely most of them have no regrets about not being in our program the last few years. I'd say Taggart is having the last laugh if he reads any of the slams on here, which I doubt. He's too busy playing for national championships.

First of all Shawn Taggart is a starter at Memphis and has probably been consistently one of the best players for the Tigers over the last month. He has had quite a few of double-doubles over the last few weeks and has been huge for the U of M. He is definitely a different player than when he was at ISU. He is still a little whiny, but not even close to where he was when he left Iowa State.

Would I take Brackins over Taggart, most definitely. But would I like to have Taggart, yes. He adds length and he adds quickness and saying anybody on Memphis is a bad defender is pretty ignorant. He might not be the best, but he is good.

Taggart is bigger, more mature, and a better player now than he was as a sick skinny freshman. Must be Morgan's fault that he wasn't a star that freshman year.

Haha, he definitely isn't a mature player. I think it could more discipline to get him where he is today which Calipari offers and Morgan didn't. I don't think he will ever play in the NBA but he could have a nice career overseas. It should be interesting to see him beside DeMarcus Cousins next season. Could be a pretty dang good front line especially with Shawn's continued improvement.

Once again it's just amazing that Taggart is more disciplined and mature as a 22 year old than he was as an 18 or 19 year old. Calapari is a genius.
