Pretty sure @ChrisMWilliams had said he noticed we were slowing down our tempo, this article confirms it: "In one-score games, the Cyclones huddle before 47.1 percent of their offensive snaps, up 12 percentage points from the team’s average over Campbell’s first four seasons."

Huddling before snaps is a stat that means nothing. When we don’t huddle we routinely take the clock down to near 0. We don’t huddle so we can see their defense and if we do go quick it’s because we caught a defense lineup we think will be advantageous for our current set of players. Only thing amount of huddles might tell you is a team is winning more so they are going into obvious run and /or clock killing situations.

Good point. I had just been thinking about Williams take from last night and I guess I hadn't really thought about us slowing things down that much more than before. I saw that stat from the article and just linked the two together.

In any case, I just liked the info from the article and seeing how balanced we are and really doing this well all around, it just gets me more excited for this weekend!

I would like for our defense to JUMP at the line of scrimmage on occasion in hopes to draw a motion penalty. Other teams continue to use it against us. Risk reward is great.

Having a top shelf running game sure changes things.

The fastest pace offenses I remember were under CPR. They could go 3&out as fast as anyone in the country.

Huddling let's the other team substitute players. They can not substitute with the no huddle, unless we do. It means something has changed I am not sure what though.

Not necessarily. They can still substitute. But if the offense doesn't substitute then the defense doesn't get the ref holding up the game to allow then d to sub.

We might not care what they do because our line and our tight ends allows us to find the match ups we want no matter how they sub. Go big defensively to stop run, we pass. Go small to cover pass, we run. it is more complex than this, but it is the basic idea.
