On the road...
Marzen's and Festbiers are easily my favorite seasonal beer styles. I could drink a Marzen all year round. I generally make a list of every one I've had year to year. I've had three so far: Big Grove Oktoberfest, Schell's Oktoberfest and Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier. Easy to see why BG won a GABF Silver with their beer, it is incredibly solid and very crushable. I had Schell's at the source a few weeks ago and it was of course very solid. If you haven't been to that brewery and have the chance, do it. Hofbrau is one of the goats...never pass that beer up.

We released our Doppelbock last week and WestOFest will release on the 30th and hit the rest of the state the week after.

Did a long weekend in Madison. Checked out New Glarus, which outside of their fruit beers, I find overrated. Their brewery is a thing of beauty though. Be advised, not open on weekends. Speaking of fall beers, I picked up some Southern Tier Carmel Pumpking and Warlock. View attachment 132784
Did they have Staghorn on tap? Their best beer IMO

Need to revive this thread since we're closer to fall now. I just bought a 12 pack of Sam Adams Oktoberfest at Fareway for 10.99. Not sure how long the deal is going on for or if it's market dependent vs company wide, but just thought I'd throw it out there. This is one of if not best Oktoberfest style beer IMO

Fenders made a Festbier called Tweet Tweet Tweet and it has art of the Iowa State marching band on it.

I'm going to start looking for West O Fest.

Started breaking out the fall beers for the cyhawk game. I always begin with the trusty larger breweries and then work my way to the local stuff. So far:

Founders Oktoberfest: $19.99 + fuel saver for a 12 pack at Ankeny Hy-Vee. Best easily obtainable expression, IMO. Great price.

Sam Adams - Fall variety 12 pack at Ankeny Hy-Vee for $13.99. Can’t beat that.
-Flannel Fest Dunkel: actually my favorite beer of the weekend. Wish they sold it individually
-Oktoberfest: classic.
-Boston Lager: WTF DID THEY DO TO THIS. My early craft beer days are dead apparently. This is basically a hoppy pale lager now.

Next up:
Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest: Costco has 24 packs for $28.
Wehestephaner, Ayinger, Paulaner: if you don’t drink the authentic German Oktoberfests at least once every year, what are you doing?

After those I will dive into the local stuff. I always enjoy Confluence and Big Grove’s. Lua also knocks these out of the park year over year.

Fall Beer is King.

Ayinger is my favorite German Oktoberfest.
