Exception for Burton?

I know that they just denied the appeal on burton practicing before Spain trip.......but does anybody have an update for the appeal that would allow burton to get a waiver for the beginning of the season? Is it pending? Was it denied? Has there actually been an appeal for a waiver or just rumors?
 
What exactly would be the basis for the waiver? Unless he's had some hardships that weren't public I don't really see why he would get a waiver.

New coach. He did stay a semester before leaving, but I think giving a new coach a shot for a semester shouldn't be punished.
 
Not only a coaching change, but his mother passed away as well I believe and that also influenced his decision to leave Marquette and transfer. That should qualify for a waiver imo when comparing his situation to other student athletes that have been granted waivers. The NCAA clearly has their own unique system and reasons for the way they go about granting waivers unbeknownst to us all aside from daily speculation.

If that's the case then it makes a lot more sense now. I've seen worse cases get waivers but better cases not get one so who knows.
