The wife and I will be in Des Moines this Friday/Saturday. We are coming from a couple hours away so I don’t know the “good” restaurants in downtown Des Moines- close to the Marriott.. Looking for a nice sit down date night restaurant. Price isn’t really a deal breaker. Thanks everyone!

Second Centro and would add Django.
Love Centro. I will say that Centro can be loud. Maybe consider the bar area which is not so loud. Sakari is fun if you like sushi. Americana used to be good. RoCA on court is really good too and has a nice easy vibe to relax.

I really like Mullberry Street Tavern

I haven’t been, but Oak Park is the new restaurant on Ingersoll
I’ve hear really good things, but it’s also super fancy/spendy
Would be worth the short Uber I’d think

Sakari has phenomenal chicken wings.
(So does the Station)

One of my favorite pies there. I may like Eatery A's just a little more but both are quality.
I love Centros nice appearance without pretentiousness.
Do you have Parlor and 7 stone in top 5?

W-Tao is a good sushi place on 4th, so a few blocks walk but still a cool spot.

Eatery A was a favorite of mine when I still lived in DSM, but sounds like you won't want to go out to Ingersoll.

How's it compare to Miyabi 9? We've been longtime fans of Miyabi 9, but honestly the last few times have been underwhelming, mostly because they didn't have any toro. Never been to W-Tao, am curious.

Been a while since I ate there, but I liked it. Plenty of seating but relatively quiet, so it's a great date spot if you and your wife want to give it a go.

Good to know. That's another thing about Miyabi 9, not a ton of seating.
