You mean like the "Each One Bring One" campaign that the AD/NCC have already started?
I think i remember something like this on CR back in the day- a thread where people would post pledging to donate for certain events throughout the FB season. A certain amount per touchdown, win, first down, etc.
Compile all the data and figure what CF members pledged to donate as the season goes on.
And from a National TV perspective it makes us look like we don't belong in FBS. Putting fans on the hills looks extremely tacky.
Yeah, but after the south end zone is bowled in tickets wouldn't be sold for them - the point of the south end zone is to add 10,000 to permanent capacity (giving us a "solid 55,000 seat stadium" instead of the 45,000 seat stadium plus 2500 per hill that is counted now)
Good idea Bryce! The 'Gridiron Club' is a great example of a group came together in a similar way.
CW, what would it take to create a 'Cyclone Fanatic South Endzone Club' whose sole purpose is to fundraise donations for the eventual bowling in of the South Endzone? Heck, we'll just bypass the AD, do the fundraising, and present a big check to the AD each year. Thoughts?
There is a fund established. I have contributed to it. JP has not gone public with it until he secures a lead donor, but you can contribute now and request that the donation be earmarked for only JTS Improvements. He will be happy to accept your contribution and set it aside as requested.
Right, but the poster was concerned about having a place for kids to run around, toss the football, etc..which I'm assuming would still be possible on the north hillside.
Think it was about 25 mil for the lower bowl, iirc. How much you'd need go get the project rolling (with the remainder paid off over time) would be another matter.
I think you still sell the north endzone hill sides, but you make them game day sales. Anyone who wants an endzone ticket will have to walk up game day, or the week before the game to the ticket office and pick them up yourself, no mailing them out.

Yeah, I bet that hill would be open for kids to run and roll around - if a giant video/scoreboard isn't standing in the way. I just don't think there would be any tix sold for it.
That's my main thing - even if we just got the LOWER bowl sooner than later, that would go a LONG way towards making JTS look like it belongs in the Big 12. I mean, I know it's often been discussed that the designs call for an option of doing the lower bowl now and building it such that the upper deck can be slapped on top at a later date.
I think that's been the plan, from everything i've heard. Do the south bowl but have all the footings ready for an eventual upper deck there.

Thank you for your email and for your desire to help. Unfortunately, given the estimated cost ($65 million), the current state of the economy, the recent decision by the Board of Regents to reduce our annual funding by several million dollars and our current demand for football ticket sales, the ability to move forward on that project is at least several years away. Hopefully over the next several years, we will be in a better position to consider that project. In the mean time, we simply need to stay focused on finding away to sell the seats we currently have available.

what was the capacity of old Clyde Williams Field, it had the South end zone "bowled in". So was it a step down when JTS was created for those that think JTS in its current configuration is not Big 12 worthy? I have been in all thae Big 12 North stadiums. Lincoln is a huge masoleum structure compared to the rest. The superior adjacent parking and festive tailgating next to the stadium, sets JTS apart from the others. IMO, JTS holds up well in the North and , obviously, filling in the South end zone would be a plus-but the current stadium is not "a glorified high school stadium".
In another year or two we may need a Mountain West stadium so JTS should do just fine.
Note that we could not fill up Clyde Williams Field before JTS was built either.... As soon a JTS was built we filled it up just fine. We didn't start seeing empty seats until we put a terrible product on the field and gave all our fans to the Hawkeyes.
Athletic Departments are either growing or falling behind. We have mostly been falling behind. We need to use our current momentum or we may not have a chance again for another painful 30 years. We "blew-it" in 2000......we don't want to do that again.
