Does attending a more selective college equal a bigger paycheck?

You have probably not dealt with this kind of person nearly as much as I have. The genus of the insecure "racer rat" is far more common in this part of the country.

No but they're not any more pleasant even in smaller samples.

Indeed.

Probably the worst instructor I ever had in Ames -- an adjunct, mind you, not even actually faculty in the department -- was a Yale graduate.

I do not think a lecture went by without a reminder of that.

Awful on every front. Everybody hated that class.

Conversely, the professors I had the closest relationships with in Ames were...

Undergraduate / Grad School
UConn / Indiana
James Madison / Minnesota
Western Michigan / Penn St.
Illinois / Michigan St.
Ohio / North Texas

...and I was far from the only one who liked them. They were all at least popular and, in a few cases, they were all-star researchers in their fields.

At least in the Midwest your earning potential is probably higher going to a 2 year school to become an electrician than 90% of Iowa State degrees.
