My family is buried in another country, but when I do get home, I visit the cemetery every time. Five generations of my family rest in that cemetery, so I feel a certain sense of family and heritage when I am there. And there is much to learn about our past by seeing other gravestones; for example, the number of very young children buried there tells me there was much sorrow in days when many children didn't survive many years, and parents were forced to bury their young. Awful. Still happens obviously, just not as frequently.
