I applaud all of you for your restraint in not making fun of Oregon’s uniform obsession. Feel free to have at it, we’ve heard it all. The uniform variety is kind of our thing, and being Nike’s guinea pig has its benefits.

Since y’all are wearing that blackish grey and the other Fiesta team usually wears white jerseys my guess will be yellow cleats, yellow britches, white jersey with green accents and yellow helmets. The cleats aren’t a guess, as the team was given the new yellow OBJ cleats to break in last week.

Iowa State has their own uniform schism.

That might be a great way to create less interest, not more, in college football. An elitist (say best 40) plan would quickly grow old and disenfranchise a large group of fans.

I hope your crystal ball view of two super-conferences is wrong.
What would be the point of being in a 40 team super conference? You would end up not playing a large number of teams during your four years of eligibility let alone travel to other teams stadium.

Yep. It's a stupid idea. The big teams like winning and winning often. Take that away from them, and they would be like WTF? Oklahoma and Nebraska historically have feasted on Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, etc. to beef up their all-time records. The whole Super Conference debate is just silly IMO. Never gonna happen.

It's what you do. You did set that trend in college football. Kids these days seem to enjoy it. So why not?

As mentioned, ISU has had some pretty bad uniform combinations over the decades.

Personally, I prefer we wear our traditional colors. But, I am getting a kick out of how bent out of shape the team to our east is getting over ISU wearing all black uniforms. So they are growing on me.

As long as you don't have a classic uniform like Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, ect I think alternate uniforms are cool. Our black jerseys aren't my favorite look, but the players seem to like them so I'm all for it. These chrome helmets you have are pretty amazing

My thinking as well, if the recruits and players like them that is what counts. Some of the uniforms have special meaning, those ones are the stomp out cancer ones that were designed by having players team up with oncology patients at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, which is part of what used to be the University of Oregon medical school before it was granted independence as OHSU. Phil Knight recently donated $500 mil to them.
Personally I love the chrome helmets, first worn in the 2012 Rose Bowl. Someone got an idea to do it and contacted a local company named HGI which did motorcycle and car paint, and once people saw those babies everyone from Baylor to Washington wanted some.
I like the Iowa State all black uniforms, I think they would look even better with a splash of color, like the I State on the helmet being in chrome gold or cardinal (or what you guys call your colors). But the black and white look is very clean.

I love those as well. I definitely like more of the Ducks uni combos than I dislike. The only ones I really disliked were the ones where they tried to add the orange duck bill and feet with the bright orange shoes, socks and face masks.

The Haha is for those funny Duck uniforms you mentioned! :) God, those were awful!

We occasionally use these chrome red helmets and I really like this look. Wish we would go with it more

Just curious. What is the greatest number of different Home, and also different Away looks you have had in one year?

A couple of years ago we maybe had 4 (?) different Home sets, and 3-4 Away sets.

This year Black has dominated the Home look with 3-4 All-Black, 1 w/b/b, 1 c/c/c (cardinal rush), and 1 w/c/w. Talk around hear is should we change our colors to black, which nobody wants to do. Our fans like the black, generally, though the novelty is wearing off. Coach like black.

Remember the ones that looked like Cal?

Are we talking unique jerseys? 2013 if my memory serves me right had 12 unique jerseys. 2012, 2014 and 2015 may be up there as well.

As far as different britches/helmet/cleat combos the looks are usually unique. 2015 and 16 they tried to do too much, even by Oregon standards.
Here is the jersey collection of Tyler Johnstone, a starting tackle who was with the program 2011-15. There are 49.

Yeah, that's what I was really talking about, unique. Haha, wow! I remember those years, from afar of course. Seemed like every week something completely new and novel! Must be nice to have a guy like Knight around. He must be a bit of a uniform guy as well.

Most teams that like to dabble in alt unis maybe have 3, 4 at most, helmets; 1-2 Home jerseys, Home and Away Pant and that's it. Quite a lot really. Then they mix/match. Oregon can take it to another level for sure. Ha. Thx for the pic!

Regarding traditions, we've got a pretty cool intro where at the end of the hype video they break in with a "Cyclone Weather Alert."

Every spring/summer in the midwest we get big thunderstorms that roll through with high winds and tornados. Local broadcasts get interrupted with the Emergency Alert System and computerized voice with details of the storm, and civil defense sirens sound when funnel clouds are spotted. Having lived in the PNW for 8 years, I'd say the closest analog is a tsunami warning.

We use the civil defense siren sound effect a lot. I dare say its our version of Boomer Sooner or The Eyes of Texas. We don't do it after first downs, but TDs, turnovers, big defensive stops, etc.

We've also adopted the Red Foo song "Juicy Wiggle" - starts at about 2 minutes in the video below. People download an app that is synchronized to the music.

Thx for that. Can't get too much Juicy Wiggle!

Thibodeaux gets a lot of the talk. Dorlus is a handful too. He’s really taken it to another level the last two games.

I’m not a big “b*tch about uni’s” guy but I’ve always thought those chrome helmets look terrible for us.

I think this is where most ISU fans land with the black as well. Only a few vocal hardline traditionalists are anti-black-unis-everything-must-be-cardinal-and-gold. We love the black as an alternate but the blacks could be next level with some gold or cardinal trim around numbers or on the helmet logo
