Saw where Iowa City put 79 on them to zero. WTH has happened to that program?

I went to Davenport CHS and played football there in the early 2000s.

The program was really hurt when the third public high school (North) opened in the late 80s. The school has a whole lot of tradition, but they’ve never been able to recreate. It doesn’t help that nearby schools like Bettendorf, PV, Assumption, and North Scott have all had been successful the last 30 years.

Don't think Central has been good for quite awhile now.

What I find interesting is Pleasant Valley seems to have taken the top spot from Bettendorf now. Believe that school district has increased in size quite a bit.

Bettendorf is the new Davenport. All of the big money that used to be in Bettendorf has gone north and east... and once you cross Devil's Glen that's all PV territory.

The radio station I do some work for covered the Davenport Central-Cedar Rapids Jefferson game earlier this season. Jefferson has lost something like 28 straight games by the end of this season, they could barely field a team last year, they have multiple sophomores and freshmen starting … for a Class 5A program.

Central had to go to overtime to beat them, and if it weren’t for a missed extra point they would have (and should have) lost in regulation.

Linn-Mar also put up over 70 points on Central.
