Anybody interested in doing something as a group at Dave & Busters Times Square location?

234 West 42nd Street

I'm thinking about Thursday evening 6-8pm. This will be friendly to families with younger kids. It will also leave time for the rest of us to go to O'Lunney's and Tonic (the other informal Iowa State locations), as well as other late night activities (Terra Blues for me!).

If you are interested, please reply or PM me (with your cell phone number). If we have a few dozen who are interested, I will contact the manager tomorrow to see if we can turn it into an Iowa State party (putting our hit video on their screens, playing our fight song, door prizes, etc.). I will post, PM, and call if I am able to pull it together.

P.S. If you don't know, Dave and Buster's is what I describe as a grown-up Chuck E Cheese's. You go there for the games, but they also serve food and drinks.

going to go to New York to go to Dave and Busters?

I want to party with this guy!

I am a wild man!

Dave and Busters in Times Square is an attempt to serve some of the folks who complained about there not being more family-oriented things to do on Thursday that were Iowa State themed. I concur with them.

You can also join me at Terra Blues in Greenwich Village until 3am. Maybe I can get the Saron Crenshaw Band to do a blues version of The Bells of Iowa State! Seriously, Saron Crenshaw is incredible. He gives it his all every night and it is awesome. He goes on at 10pm and plays til 3am.

You can put us down for 4. 2-adults, 2-kids. We fly out Wednesday night but will keep checking CF to see if there is enough interest. I hope it works out.

D&B in Times Square is a good choice for a family-friendly NYC experience. Walk over to the ice rink at Rockefeller Plaza, light a candle for the Clones at St. Pats, then hit Rays up a couple blocks for a slice too.

On that note, someone should try to eat at every Ray's pizza while in NYC.

Dave and Busters has the best steak in an arcade setting.

Anybody else interested? We have a handful from this thread and private messages, but we probably need to hear from a few more to get them to really make it into an Iowa State party. I will call the manager later this afternoon.

My family would be in.

Looks like there are at least two dozen of us who are interested, so it is on. Let's plan to meet at Dave & Buster's Times Square (234 W. 42nd St.) on 6-8pm on Thursday. I will talk to the Manager about getting Iowa State highlights on their video screens and see what else they can do for us. No matter what, Dave & Buster's is always fun!

If you send me a private message with your cell phone number, I will call you with any updates.

Just heard from an anonymous former team member who said he hoped to make it with some of his group.

Saw this posted by TheCaptain in another thread:

"As of right now...we plan to hit Cycsk's party at Dave & Busters."

We will be in the open seating area to the left when you enter Dave & Buster's.

Also, Dave & Buster's is next door to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum if you are looking for something else to do nearby. The street acts themselves are cool.

Glad to meet several of you at Dave & Busters, especially the players and parents who came. Sorry that the management wasn't more cooperative in terms of giving us a room (even though they had a few in the back), instead making us separate around the restaurant. It made it hard to stay out front and greet everyone. And curses to whoever took the big Iowa State window cling from the front door on 42nd Street.

Hope you all had a great time in New York . . . the best that you could after a loss.

Go Cyclones in 2012. See you in January 2013 for next year's bowl game!

Cycsk, thanks for all the work you did trying to put this together. It was nice meeting you and our kids had a great time racking up tickets in the game area. Maybe next year we need to let the Alumni Association know early on that they should try to put something together for families.
