Elias posted an update on his facebook.

The TLDR is that he gave his 30-day notice last week that he was taking a new opportunity. He gave plenty of leave to allow for time to transition especially with RVTV coming up. Yesterday, he was called into the office and told he was done. They walked him up and said his belongings would be packed up and brought to him.

Thats bush league.

I'd be surprised if Surrency moves. He's got two kids under 4 and, last I knew, he really wanted to be in a spot to move back to Waterloo/Cedar Falls after Ron Steele retires.

No one else, in the laundry list of exits from WHO in this thread was done that way.

True. I guess I should preface it by saying it is not an unheard of practice. Dumb especially in this instance where it's not like he is going to take company secrets or anything but not unheard of.

Meh so fairly standard for giving notice that you are leaving.
Maybe in corporate America where you have system access to accounts or something that could potentially cause harm to the company if you did some damage on the way out. But this.is sitting in front of a camera and reporting the news. Elias doesn't seem like the type to burn the house down on the way out either. Guessing some there may take notice and we some more exits as a result. I mean they did do Sonya Hietshuesen dirty a few years ago even if they did come out ok with the age discrimination lawsuit.she filed and lost against them. Meanwhile Roger Riley basically more airtime as a result so pushing out a middle aged woman and giving a man basically the same age or maybe older more air time looked pretty bad. Then they brought in some much younger women to basically take over her anchor and reporting duties too.

Sad to see Elias leave and be shown the door like that too. He did a great job of filling the big shoes of Dan Winters.

Seems odd when it appeared Elias had some upcoming stories in the can, but maybe those have aired already. I guess now we know the price of not mentioning Caitlin Clark in every other sentence.

It appears that Elias Johnson is no longer with WHOTV. Haven't seen anything reported yet on why but his social media feeds confirm it. Sad to see him go, he did a great job both as anchor and reporter. Curious now how this shakes up the anchor situation at 13 now, is Andy Fales now going to be more in the mix than he usually is? Justin Surrency also has been in the mix here and there but seemed like Elias, Erin, and Janay have been the primary evening anchors lately.

"Much more to say in the days ahead. Stay tuned…

The last thing WHO needs is more Andy Fales. I really liked Elias so that is a bummer.

Why is Michael Admire back doing work for channel 13? Does he just help out on the side?
He's just doing interest stories on the side. He's not full time there, they announced a couple months ago he's just be doing some stories from time to time.

Going to be interesting to see if they bring on some new anchors as it's been a lot more Andy and the "part time" anchors at 10 lately. Erin doesn't do 10pm much anymore and Jannay usually does the 9pm on Fox most nights and some 10 on WHO too but it's been noticeable lately how they have had Lisa Carpinelli and Amanda Krenz and apparently even Metinka now covering some of the 10pm newscasts and those 3 usually just cover some of the weekend shifts.

Not a lot of longevity onscreen personnel there now. Ed, Megan & Jeriann on weather, Andy, Erin, and Jannay on anchor duty, Keith and (gag) John on sports. Just seems like a lot of turnover there in the 18 months since Dan left; makes you wonder if it's a behind the scenes issue at the station.

Apparently it's hard to recruit to what resembles Chamber of Commerce sunshine pumpers with bad hours when you could just apply for a 9 to 5 spot.

Isn't Ron Steele about 110 years old? That dude should have retired at least 20 years ago. What a fossil.
