campustown already has a burger spot (freddys) and i cant say its packed when ive gone by it

Ames really should be grateful for ISU without it is Boone, Mason City, Ft. Dodge etc.
None of those are bad places but non are particularly vibrant.

Fort Dodge is a bad place nothing good about that place.

It doesn't need to specifically be 30Hop, just something similar to this concept. A quality brewpub, of which that's one easy example.

How about El Bait Shop, Ames version.

The team that run Either/Or and Lua Brewing down in Des Moines would be perfect. Lua even won some national award recently. Food is awesome and their beer is great

TG was in on it early, but pulled out probably a year or so ago.

I think 30 Hop is maxed out financially with all their expansion they have done lately.

30 Hop owner is an Ames High grad, his parents still live in Ames. Seems like they are focused on bigger markets than Ames, but it would be awesome if they came to CyTown.

My thoughts were that the Iowa Tap Room could be a good Brew/Pub for the Cytown location. They rotate seasonal beers from across the state plus I have had pretty good food there.

In the announcement TG said they were focusing on brewing, no longer expansion.

Probably still a slight possibility but seems unlikely.
The craft beer scene appears to be on the decline, or at least found a peak. Guessing these breweries need to start cutting back some

Des Moines has an insane amount of craft breweries. I think the ones that have great food (Lua) will last. It's going to be tough to stick around on your beer alone (Peace Tree) unless it's exceptional (Confluence).

Doesn't have to be a copy of Iowa Taproom. Just let Full Court Press open an ISU themed bar with lots of craft beer options and they will knock it out of the park.

That's the best run craft brewery in Des Moines imo. They don't have the beer selection of Confluence, but what they have is all really good, and the food is far better than any others out there.
