What a picture!

It is amazing how many hawk fans I have heard grumbling about our easy schedule and how ISU winning 9 or 10 games with our schedule isn't meaningful. All the while completely oblivious to the fact that they have been the fake ID of college football fattening up on the pathetic B1G West for the last 15 years.

^This. And it's all on Fry and his rivals hate stuff and how he preached the Texas style hate your rivals. Sat in the Dana House den on 1970 and actually pulled for Iowa in the NCAA game. Year or so before we were all pulling for Drake. Fry blew that all up. Also, we didn't play each other back than.

As I've gotten older, and with Fry rotting in his grave, I've lightened up a LOT on the whole rivalry thingy. Still do want to stop by his graves some day since peeing on it is on my bucket list. Hey, I said I had let go of MOST rival hate stuff, not all of it. ;)
Shout out to Dana House

If Kirk retires soon, Klieman will get a look.

Iowa is going to have a very difficult time getting someone as good as KF. Even prime KF wouldn’t likely replicate the past success, without the Big 10 West and Doyle’s “secret sauce”
I don't think they can get Klieman. He is BFFs with the AD, so if he is winning I don't see him leaving. And if the wheels fall off the KSU bus enough that he would leave, it will be bad enough thay Iowa won't want him.

I started watching football around 1988 and big 12 was the better football conference over big ten nearly every single year right until this last round when Big Ten broke the Pac and SEC took OU/tx. Hilarious we already see myths that big ten was always as stacked as it is now. It was slow football for a long time.
The Big 10 was a punchline for a decade until Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State got their **** figured out. Every bowl season (when they mattered) was open season on Big 10 programs on the field and in the media.

Ahh, the good ol' days.

It's a good job, but it's a tough job in the new Big 10. They have very little chance of ever making the championship game. The fans are impatient and entitled. WIll they uproot their entire way of operating (OL play, base defense, player development) or go with a guy on staff/from the program? The fanbase was pretty sold on LeVar Woods a couple years ago. I don't know much about him.

Repeating the stability and consistency they've had for 40 years seems impossible. I know I'm wishcasting a bit, but when Kirk is done, Iowa is in a very precarious position. There's no way they can hire Klieman, this season notwithstanding. He has a Big 12 title, but he's just Kirk lite.

Fickell was supposed to be a home run for Wisconsin...Those programs are mirror images. Wisconsin probably has a few advantages even. Bring on the collapse.

I’m sure this has been said before but on game replays. I don’t think Iowa made their first FG. I know in the stands I saw the fans in the end zone say they missed it. On TV it looks like they sure missed it.

I haven't reviewed game beyond highlights, and I certainly could've been wrong watching live, considering camera angle and I was a bit in-and-out viewing at the time. I could swear that field goal was wide about 3 feet.

Better chance college football collapses on itself in the next 40 years than Iowa has the consistency and stability of the last 40

Every blue blood has had more troughs.

Iowa fans have lived through their golden era. That’s not to say they won’t have more peaks, but there will be more turbulence than the last 40+ years. That can quickly bring down any program
