Cyclone Warnings

I can't hear the "siren" from where we usually tailgate either if you want to call it a siren. Just have somebody get on the PA and annouce that there has been an IOWA STATE CYCLONE WARNING a couple of times before they start a siren that actually sounds like a siren. Do as someone stated about and don't use the siren on days that it may storm.
The problem with having a siren that sounds like a warning siren is that people are stupid. Not everyone is going to find out that this is just a gameday promo, despite how much you advertise it. And even on a clear day, there will probably be people who scramble down to their basements and get pissed when they find out that it wasn't really an emergency.

They test the real sirens monthly, and yet people don't dive for cover and call up the city and compain. Why? Because they know its a test, happens at the same time all the time. The gameday sirens always happen Satudays before games. If we can notify people living close to the stadium that should be enough. You can't hear them much farther away anyways. I can hardly hear them in the stadium parking lot.
I liked what they did before the Colorado game a year ago better...don't know how they did it, but dang it was pretty stink'n authentic!

i like this idea. incorporate it into the pregame video. the camera rolls into GCs office and he has a tv with the weather channel on . the weather man on there does one of the dramatic "this just in..." THEN the camera proceeds into the locker room with the animated banners on the wall etc.
No, they've got to lose Jeff Johnson on the field. He may be a great guy and all, but he is not cut out to lead cheers, give weather reports, etc. Leave that up to the pros or it comes across pretty lame. We need someone down on that Jackturf who knows how to work a crowd.
i liked johnson on the days where cyclone optimism was high... on the days where noone cared it was pretty sad because he would be out their trying his *** off to get people excited

He can work a crowd, but he was put in almost an impossible situation. Things to fire up the crowd before a game only work if people are there and have a reason to be excited about the game. Not sure who comes up with cheer ideas, if its him or not, but was part of the problem.
