Cyclone Bars in Chicago

Murphy's is the official Iowa State bar. Corcoran's still leans towards Iowa State. Not sure on Fizz anymore. They used to be a Cyclone/Terrapin bar.

^None of these are near the United Center.

I went to Fizz last year for the last game of the Big 12 regular season, and it had a lot of Iowa State fans plus the game on every tv. Corcoran's is another Iowa State bar I have heard good things about, but I've never been. Unfortunately, neither is near the United Center.

Chicago ISU Grad here. Murphy's Bleachers is the only official ISU bar. It will be packed to the brim Friday so good luck unless you get there by like 4. It's a huge bar though.

I live right next to Corcoran's. It used to be an ISU bar but they switched to a Michigan State bar about a month ago. They have a back room where they play sound but it only seats about 25, 50 can stand. I'm sure you can easily convince them to play the game and sound as they still have some ISU lean and I bet people will show that don't realize it isnt an ISU bar anymore. That's what I would do but I will most certainly be at the game.

Fizz no longer has any ISU affiliation and is pretty much a disaster of a bar anyway.

Fizz is no longer an ISU gamewatch location. There are several good bars in the West Loop neighborhood where the United Center is located. Beer Bistro and WestEnd are both on Madison. WestEnd has a ashuttle to the UC for games, and Beer Bistro may as well. I may hit one of those for pre-game, depending on what the local alumni club does.

The alumni page says Murphy's, will that change since the game is actually being played in Chicago?

WestEnd and CrossRoads are good bars on Madison. They would fall under the "sports bar" theme. I'd expect these bars might become the de facto meeting grounds for fans of all teams in town.

Kaiser Tiger is a really fun bar that has a nice outdoor space. It's also close to the UC; but it's definitely not a sports bar. Depending on the weather, they have bocce ball and it has a good craft beer selection.

Of course when you look up Murphy's on Google street view there's a guy in a hawkeye jacket across the street waving

Hey guys, I'm involved with the ISU Alumni Club in Chicago.

There's nothing to announce yet, but details for Sweet Sixteen festivities are being worked on, on Iowa State's end. Stay tuned for official news. I'll post it here if no one else does first.

But besides that, Murphy's will still be an official game watch location, so that's an option if you're in town and not going to the game, and not going to attempt to buy tickets outside of the United Center (Murphy's is very far away from that).

Is there no bars next to United Center that the Cyclone faithful can storm?

We can only assume that the guy in the Chickenhawk jacket just got kicked out of Murphy's!

Maybe everyone knows it, but Murphy's is a great location right across the street from the Wrigley Field bleachers. If you aren't going to the game, that would be a great spot to go. Easy access by CTA train.

Was there last Saturday and the entire bar was packed with Cy fans. We got there around 3:30pm and grabbed the last open table. I can't imagine how packed it'll be Friday.

We are heading into Chicago tomorrow from Iowa. Want to watch ISU game with other fans tomorrow. Is there any suggestions for bars in Chicago? I saw that Murphy's is the official watch location, but we are staying near O'Hare and would prefer not going downtown. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Go Cyclones!

My sister and I will be in Chicago for the Cubs game on Saturday. Now that the game has moved to 3pm we'll be able to watch the Cyclones game (or most of it). I'm assuming Murphy's is still the place to be. Will we have any problem getting in to watch the football game or what time should we plan to get there?
