I kind of look at this dual like this.

I think we have four “safe” matches in 141, 149, 197, 285. Losing any of these would be pretty bad without picking something up elsewhere.

I think Iowa has 2 (maybe 3 depending on how you classify Caliendo and Euton!) safe matches with 174 and 184.

This leaves four matches in the middle that I think are the true tossups where we basically would like to pick up two wins to avoid criteria or relying on bonus (125, 133, 157, 165). Assuming we don’t give up any major bonus points winning two out of those four seems very doable and likely results in something like 19 (+/- 1) to 13 (+/- 1) with some bonus point variations. If Iowa takes three of those or picks up an upset from our safe weights then the bonus points become key…

All that being said I’ll take isu 59-0 after bastida spikes his headgear.

Willie's Picks:
125- ISU Dec 3-0 Clones
133- Iowa Dec 3-3
141- ISU Dec 6-3 Clones
149- Iowa Dec 6-6
157- ISU Dec 9-6 Clones
165- Iowa major 10-9 Hawks
174- Iowa major 14-9 Hawks
184- Iowa Dec 17-9 Hawks
197- ISU Dec 17-12 Hawks
Hwt- ISU Dec 17-15

He did say it's not crazy to pick Evan over Drake or Jacob/Paniro over Block, just going on his gut feel.
Willie also said he “fully expects Iowa to dominate” and said he doesn’t think Iowa is in jeopardy of losing the dual earlier in the show. What an idiot

I think many of the talking heads have the “Iowa until proven otherwise” mentality.

It’s lazy and I don’t agree with it, but can you really blame them?
