If you need an indoor antenna, buy the Mohu Leaf Ultimate. Right about $60, but I pull stations in an area with quite a few trees that I was never able to with any other model.

I live in Waterloo and pull all of the Waterloo/CR stations as well as most of the Northern Iowa/Southern MN stations (KIMT, etc) and on a really clear day, I pull the Quad Cities stations too.

I'm switching to Mediacom internet (2000 Gig Cap, 150 Mbps) and signing up for VUE as of tomorrow. Done with the horrible picture and increasing prices of Dish Network!

I looked at

I gave consideration to PlayStation Vue but decided it might be good to give it another year for them to get the kinks out and run smoother from some comments I saw.

Are you only allowed one regional Fox sports network? Or can you pick up multiple regional channels? Also, you can't get redzone channel can you, I know the full NFL ticket is not available.

Also, I would love to continue to hear updates about how the system is working pros & cons if you use Playstation VUE. member messages would be great or posting to this thread.
I don't think anyone said Vue had issues. SlingTV gets pixelated from time to time but I couldn't be happier with Vue. The picture is great, it has almost every channel I want (no A&E), and the price can't be beat ($35/month).

As another poster said, I think the Vue Fox Sports Net channel shows the national content but if you want to watch regional coverage, just use your Playstation Vue log in for the Fox Sports Go app and you can get any Fox Sports Net you want.

My only (potential) complaint is if it chews up my entire 250 GB cap of data per month but you will get that with any streaming provider. Another poster made it sound like Centuylink doesn't monitor the data cap that closely unless you are a huge abuser of it. I told the Centurylink rep who set up my internet exactly what I was using it for (streaming) and he told me that 250 will be fine. He said the worst that happens is they send you a written warning in the mail but he said he has only had a few customers that ever got to that point.

This types of stuff makes me happy for having a service like Imon over here in Cedar Rapids as they have no data caps on anything.

I'm in CR but Imon isn't in my neighborhood yet. I called and practically begged them to set up my neighborhood soon. They said they are building a new data terminal in Marion. Once up and going, they will have pretty much the entire NE quadrant serviced.

Interesting to know. I also live in Marion, but I'm in the Marion school district area, so apparently we were one of the first in the Marion area to get service with them a few years ago. My guess is they are working from inward out in getting everyone service.

Just started with VUE over the weekend and I am blown away. Fantastic service with super easy to navigate menus on Fire TV.

Blown Away. Never going back to traditional cable/satellite.

For you cable cutters out of Iowa, how have you gone about getting ISU games. Im finding I can get games on every channel except for when we are on Fox Sports Midwest. Since I live in AZ I get Fox Sports Arizona with things like SlingTV, but Midwest is blacked out.

Usually when ISU plays on Fox Sports Net, it is nationally televised on every FSN affiliate. If for some weird reason FSN Arizona blocks out ISU football, you should just switch to Playstation Vue. With your subscription, you get access to Fox Sports Go which has access to all Fox sporting events across all of their platforms including FSN.

I am sure this is covered somewhere in here, but don't have time to dig through at the moment.

For those using Vue/Sling TV do you have any DVR service? Or is DVR like service provided with either particular product? The only things I watch live are games. Any other TV we watch is DVR'ed. I don't really want to have to go back to watching commercials again. Also with a young family, wife and I rarely get to sit down and consume a whole episode without having to stop for one reason or another.

Not DVR but you have the ability to rewind shows you are watching. Even though you don't have direct DVR capability you do have access to On Demand for most of the major channels which make their shows available the next day after airing the show live.

So if you are using the on demand function you are subject to commercials? I know each network is different about commercials on on demand product from Comcast some allow you to fast forward through, most make you watch them and some don't have commercials at all (very rare). Just wondering how my viewing habits will change if I cut the cord.

My 2 year deal with Comcast is up very soon, so debating if I want to go the cord cutting route or not.

Vue has a cloud DVR service. Sling does not. The downside of the Vue DVR is that the programs can only be saved for a max of 28 days if that matters to you.

Not to sound too much like a shill, but I had Sling last year and now have Vue, and Vue is better in literally every possible category IMO. More channels, lower price for comparable channels, DVR, better picture quality/consistency. Although Sling allows you to watch wherever while Vue locks you to your home IP address, if that matters to you (doesn't to me).

Yeah, as a cable cutter, I've just learned to adjust my TV watching habits over time and it suddenly just becomes normal. Overall, I'd say that I watch my favorite shows one of two ways now:
1. Wait until they get past their run and then go on Netflix where I then binge the whole thing commercial-free (or some other provider)
2. Watch the shows on-demand through each individual channel's app where they usually only house the last 5 shows with some type of commercial viewing required

I will say this, with option #2, it is at least less commercials and sometimes at less frequency than you'd have to watch live for cable TV. Like you said, each network is different too. Not great, but I've learned to live with it. At least it is on-demand and I can watch it on my time schedule, but a sacrifice nevertheless.

Oh, I guess there is kind of a third option where I watch the TV shows of streaming services (more and more popular by the day) like Daredevil on Netflix, where they release the entire series commercial-free. This option is easily my favorite.

Haven't done much research on Vue, but do you need a Playstation to get that service or can you get it through other player's out there like Roku or whatnot?

Can I watch Vue on a PC without getting another piece of equipment?

Oh ok, so I take it a lot of you guy's who utilize it probably use it through Roku right?
I imagine most do, I believe I have seen it on my Sony Blu-Ray player as well in case you have one. I have Sling instead of Vue so I can't test it, but knowing the difference between navigating my Roku vs Blu-Ray player, I would imagine the Roku would pay for itself twice over just for that benefit alone.
