one thing to keep in mind is Bama does not have the NIL that a lot of their conference peers have. For example, there is simply a lot more money at Texas A and M or Tennessee than there is at Bama. Before NIL, kids were willing to go to Bama and be a back up for 2 or 3 years and get their shot and then land an NFL contract. Now the quality depth is not there, those 4 stars that may have to wait behind another 4 or 5 star for their turn, are not doing that anymore. They can go somewhere else, get paid more money, and see the field sooner. So I don't think it is fair to compare DeBoer's situation simply because NIL is the equalizer, it has taken away the advantages that Alabama used to have.
Yes and the transfer rule is huge. Now players can leave and play next season without sitting out. Schools can’t stockpile talent anymore,

I actually like it that guys don't have to sit out. What I don't like is that you literally see guys that have transferred 4 times in 4 years. When the rules and regulations are put in place to control this madness I sincerely hope either contracts or some type of two year commitment, or maximum times someone can transfer within a certain period are put in place. If they don't put a hard salary cap in place they certainly need a soft one like MLB has now

I agree. I like not having to sit out but I don’t think they should be allowed to do it every year. Should have to sit out 2nd time.

I like that. You transfer more than once while an undergrad you sit out the 2nd time. I would add an exception that allows grad transfers to not have to though. It would incentivize and reward guys who stick around and take academics seriously.

At the very least put a soft cap on NIL at like 14 million. For example LSU spends 18 million. You pay 10% of soft cap max back for every million you go over and 20% back starting at like 4 million over. They can spend 18 million but its also gonna cost them 5 million to do it. That money gets evenly distributed back to who spend at the lower end. I have a hard time believing there will ever be a hard cap but a soft cap(penalties for going over x amount) is doable.

They aren't stacked top to bottom though. They are just really good. They may be the best tackling team I've ever seen honestly. And Mendoza became what he is because of Indiana. This is a 2 star guy that was really good at Cal. Not a 5 star high school guy that had been torching the west coast for the last several years. Is he the #1 pick if he stays at Cal? Is he even drafted?
No doubt Mendoza and a lot of these guys are way better with how they showcased their talents. I think Mendoza would’ve been really good based on being one of the top 10 portal guys, but I don’t think anybody’s wildest dreams had him THIS good. He was sought after and was going to land somewhere good, but he sure made the right choice.
