That's fine. Going from 13 wins to 23 along with tourney hardware and an NCAA bid in one year is considered "not good" in your book......okay. And this year you want to hold him accountable like it was a normal year....that's fine. I just put "pass" on the rational person side because I have seen many on here explaining protocol and restrictions as to why UNLV and others are having problems. I just figured it might be rational to think those same things might be affecting the ISU men's team just the same.
I think our record would be similar this year even if had been a "normal" year. A bit better, yes, but not near a good level. Hinson would have helped, but man do we need a point guard this year.

And I guess I should clarify, I do agree that the 23 wins are good, but I absolutely think we underachieved. As a result of that opinion, I don't consider it a "good" year. Certainly doesn't mean I am correct, but it is how I feel about that year.

You said you were around for Ken Trickey, right?

so you’ve watched Iowa State basketball for a long long time. In the history of Iowa State basketball, 23 wins isn’t a bad year under any circumstances. Could it have been better, of course. The personal issues on that team got out of hand. But 23 wins at Iowa State is never “bad”

Agreed, definitely not bad.

That team could have been better. If what they actually thought was going to happen when they signed that class it wouldn’t have cratered the program.

Darn you Bruce Weber for tyrese how to play and become a lottery pick.

I disagree with year 4 and 6. Year 4 was not good considering what we had available. The KC part made it seem much better than it really was.
Year 6 is an absolute disaster. This is Ken Trickey (yes I was around then) level of competence. I struggle to see how next year is at a "good" level. Then it makes the body of work even more questionable.
Nothing against Steve, but I don't think he is, or will get the job done. That is how we are all measured in our job reviews.

Welcome aboard the "Ken Trickey Disaster Train" lakeliving.....I wondered how many survivors were left of that era of Incompetence. I always wondered how Ken Trickey could do so well at Oral Roberts and was such a disaster at Iowa State...

GREAT TO KNOW THERE WAS ANOTHER SURVIVOR OF THE TRICKEY ERA.

It would be interesting to see if there are any Power 5 coaches with a worse conference record in the last four years. I can't of any without looking, maybe DePaul or Boston College, Wake Forest.
DePaul: 15-47

BC: 20-43

WF: 16-50

We're barely above DePaul and Wake at the moment.
