Rhoads is going to get a head coaching job somewhere, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was this year.
I wish he would have gotten a job a few years ago when all the other schools were beating down his door.

rasteter wasn't on the board then.
In my continuing naivete, I half thought Rhoads was going to say "...and to help these kids get the coach they deserve, I am giving back half my buyout as next coach's signing bonus!"
But he signed the contract they offered...it's part of the business, not his fault he's has a nice parachute.

So your problem with the current president is that he was hired by the Board of Regents, who have people on it you don't trust? Seems fair
I'll be surprised if we every have a coach as "all in" as Rhoads is/was... I hope that the next guy can turn the corner, but I won't expect him to stay if he does. Between CPR and Hoiberg, I think the "relationship" I've had with coaches at ISU is at a crossroads. From now on, it's going to be a business relationship, which it likely should have been to start with. That being said, that's a very sad development in my history of being a cyclone fan.
Randy Pete's question and CPR's response regarding why Paul didn't leave sums it all up for me. We'll never again have a coach as loyal as he has been. We will have a coach that intends to take us to new places, but once/if he does, I have a very hard time believing he'll stick around to attempt what Paul did.

I posted earlier a DC job - meaning a DC at one of the big boys - then he'd move on to HC again.
Or - if that didn't happen & the right institution came asking - then I agree with you. If that is the case, I'd think that wouldn't be a Big XII team (I hope).

if you got fired, would you want to deal with the cesspool of idiots that are call in show callers?!?
if I'm Paul, tomorrow night at that time, I'm cracking open a beer and saying to myself that there's one small positive about being fired this week vs next week.
I think that KSU game is resonating a lot harder than you think. That's going to require some time to sell to another fanbase. He's "kneel down" guy now.
He was left out and for good reason. From CWs periscope I couldn't see if he was at JPs presser or was he hiding in his office.Or just misspoke/left out - would be easy to do in the circumstances.
Or something more...I'm too soft & naive about these things. Maybe he felt Leath was 'rooting against him' to hire his own guy. Anyway, I'll assume just the former.
As I listen to - blah blah blah - successful future, somewhere.
This is what makes it hard for me. I/we wanted him to win very badly, but what it comes down to are his decisions. He decided to hire messingham and bliel- two monumentally stupid fb mistakes. He also lost to fcs teams and this season alone lost games in the second half that should not have been lost, in mays that are insane.
Paul is a tremendous guy, but not a tremendous head coach. he should be a dc again and he will do well.
if he is as bad of a coach as we've read on here we should want that, right?
Interesting that he thanked President Geoffrey, but not President Leath. Hmmm.
