COVID Job Impacts

Working Monday - Friday and putting in hours practically every weekend.
Computer outsourcing world never ends. For some reason they did delay our bonuses. That should be a nice check whenever they finally pay out.

I know there was a thread to this effect a while back, but I couldn't find it.

How is everyone doing with COVID job impacts? Anyone been laid off? Still looking for work? Business as usual?

My company just announced furloughs for Q1 of 2021. Everyone at the company (450 people) are required to take 3 weeks unpaid between Jan 1 and March 31. This is the first time in my career I've ever dealt with anything like this. Part of me is annoyed because I was heavily recruited to join this company about 2 months ago. On the other hand, if this is the only cutbacks, it amounts to some extra time off at a cost of 6% of my pay. Thankfully, our family is in a good financial position to weather this. I'm thankful it wasn't full layoffs and loss of benefits. Though, I will have my eye out for future signs of ill health in the company. Leadership insists it's just a slow Q1 and things will pick up rapidly in Q2 and beyond.

Just for the benefit of everyone on this post, my wife works for a staffing company that has a lot of good openings. Some up to 27/hr all the way down to 14/hr but some for PPP projects that can be 6-8 months to help if anyone needs to reach out. Happy to help any way I can. A lot of openings she has are also WFH.

Never been busier but am thankful for that.

Currently on my first vacation since last New Years. Staying home but at least I ain't working.

Kind of in the same boat. My anniversary at work was Dec. 1st and I lost 15 vacation days. Basically didn't take a day off all year was so busy.

have been at work everyday since it begin.. one co workers wife got it then he got it and had to quarantine for a few weeks last month (same exact symptoms that we each had back in late February/early March even), but me and the other guy carried on at work during it. Fiancée got laid off at the daycare she worked at and was out of work for about a month, but has since been working at Walmart part time..
