Cornbred BBQ Opening Restaurant on Main Street

I tried their food at the most recent Foodies and Brew event. It was really good. Will definitely be giving them a try.

Always good to see a local vendor moving into downtown Ames. And with BBQ, not foofoo.

They have some great food. Their chili is amazing. Super nice people.

Long overdue in Ames. They must have Corn Bread on the menu (Battle's didn't!) and I hope they have half chicken.

I competed against Ryan on the BBQ circuit. He is one of the best brisket cooks Ive seen. Look up his team for results. BigTzQCru. His place will be a big success.

I believe it's 'cornbread pudding' at least at the food truck. Who you got for best ribs in the state?
Best BBQ ranking in Iowa should be backed by experience. Last BBQ I had in Iowa was September '17 in West Union at Stolen Brothers. In November I hope to roam west to east across Iowa sampling BBQ along the way ending in Ames.

Cornbred Food truck (for now) and Kue'd Smokehouse in Waukee Right?

The one down in Luther is actually called "Watcha Smokin" It is right on Hwy 17 west side of the road. (Not that you'll miss it driving thru Luther.

I've ate there a couple of times it's solid can't compare it to Kue'd or Cornbread haven't been to either of them.

I personally know one of the owners of Watcha Smokin. Hes a good guy, been involved at a few places in Ames over the years, most recently McFlys.
Its nice to see that they went to an area that could use a restaurant too.

They finally opened! Managed to get in for dinner Wednesday and had the Nashville Hot Chicken. Still working out some links (they were out of almost everything BBQ wise), but the space and concept are great! Awesome beer and cocktail list.
