To continue the zoomer posting, I just listened to White Ferrari by Frank Ocean (excellent song btw). At the end, the song says "you dream of walls that hold us in prison". I think that reflects this forum yesterday and today. I encourage all of us to dream and imagine what the best version of this football team is week in and week out, and not dwell on the version we saw on Saturday. Wins are yet to come!

Since starting 3-0 last season, we've gone 2-10. The program has stepped back 10 years. Here soon, the copium is going to turn to indifference. Unless.....the offense is allowed to play to their strengths. Just don't see that happening.

Well, if this team is forced to run like it did last Saturday, it will go 0-9 the rest of the year and the coaching staff should be fired for gross negligence. They come out with that play calling against Okie State this week-end and the boos will start the first series. I mean, Campbell is a smart guy and he backs the players 100%...but damn, he simply refuses to change...even if his job depends on it. Coach to the team's strength (the pass) and work on the run as you can.

Alright everyone, time to stop shitting on Campbell and coaching staff. I agree it was a bad loss but those can happen. Campbell isn't getting the boot this year even if we lose out so no point in talking about it on this super influential message board.

It's copium time now. First, we need to rationalize the loss. I'm elite at rationalizing my failures and shortcomings, as my gf would tell you. Ohio is a great team that may even finish the season ranked; they were the best team in the MAC last year and clearly got even better. The loss seems horrible on paper but we just played Ohio football at their peak in many, many years and we were their Super Bowl (as the couple Ohio fans I met at the bar were yelling pregame).

Second, many of the remaining games on our schedule are definitely still winnable. Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati, and Kansas are all winnable games. If we can find one more win, we're in a bowl game. Now I'm not saying we will win all these games, but you can't all sit here and tell me we don't have a good chance (under one score spreads) against these teams. If we end up making a bowl game, I don't think anyone can complain about the season, even if the first three weeks were disappointing.

The offense and kicker are still infuriating. Yes, it sucks that the issues from last year haven't yet been fixed. Maybe we will lose out or only win one or two in conference play and Campbell's seat warms up for next season. But there's still a lot of football left to be played and wins may still be yet to come. Let's look forward to the rest of the season and be good fans instead of bitter haters.
Like your optimism, but Kansas is good. Running QB’s hurt us - like Ohio did.

Us losing to Kansas won't have anything to do with their offense. It's going to have everything to do with our offense. Kurtis Rourke did not hurt us with his legs. He had a few nice plays where we didn't have a spy on him, but once we put that on, his legs became a non-factor.

Kansas is going to struggle to move the ball on us, just like most teams will. Our offense has to move the ball and score points. It's as simple as that. And it's not happening with the current offense we're running. It has to change.

I'd much rather see Rocco throw a couple INTs due to aggressive playcalling Saturday than lose without even trying again. I mean seriously - if it's 3rd and long and he throws a pick 30 yards away what's the average field position difference between that and a punt, 15 yards?
So we are basically at a point where we wish our offense was as good as it was with Hunter Dekkers 12 months ago...great!

Man, I like the attitude and effort here. And what a great opportunity for our young players to embrace and to have a chance to better themselves.

I am of course, being sarcastic. There is nothing more that I would like, in terms of football, than to see Iowa State under Matt Campbell, turn this thing around.

I'm to the point however, that I need to see atleast a glimmer of hope that the scheme and play-calling is improving. Up to now, I just don't see it.

Hopefully the light will come on this week and we have a great game.

Ohio's not a great team, they're a good MAC team. Either way, we should be beating good MAC teams by 2 TDs plus.

Or if you lose, you lose in desperate fashion and tip the cap.

Mid 3rd quarter it was fairly obvious what was about to happen and that is what's similar to CSP.

My copium is that no one could watch that offense and think there isn't a major strategy shift needed. We have a decent QB, maybe a couple guys that can make plays in space. There's no way they're stubborn enough to stick with this dumb grind it out type of offense when it's clear it not good enough to compete in the MAC......
