SNES was better but Sega had better sports games. 2K started out as Sega Sports and had some of the best sports games of that console gen. I owned both and even the EA sports games seemed to play better on Sega.

Outside of that Mortal Combat having blood was the only advantage Sega had. To be fair, SNES has some of the most iconic games of all time, every other console probably comes up short when compared.

As I mentioned, I liked Zelda (NES), but I also liked the Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest in Japan) games as well. That franchise never released an SNES game in the US. I didn’t care much for Final Fantasy or Crystalis, which were similar games to DW, because there was way too much “story” I had to wait through before I could play.
Not having any SNES releases is why I probably gravitated more to FF than DW Also something about DW II and not seeing your party members during battle was a big negative for me even though I loved DW I. To date, while I've played almost all mainline entries of the FF series, I've only played 1, 2, 8, and now playing 11 of DQ.

I voted SNES but the level of nostalgia I have for this GIF if significant.

For Christmas our parents got my brother and I an SNES. We loved it. Only problem was I was in college at the time, so I didn't get to take it to Ames with me. I started saving and figured I'd buy the Sega, since technically, I already had an SNES. Having owned both, I can say that they each have their merits, but the SEGA just looked better on screen. I also have fat and big hands so the Sega controller fit me better.
