Conference Prediction for ISU

I stopped following him. There is nothing wrong with following a non cyclone reporter, but his takes always seems so end of the world like. It's almost like he is fishing for reactions. Like his article on how Iowa State eked by Drake.
I don't know how he still has a job after that hit piece he wrote about how the ISU administration basically forced Fred out by being cheapskates and then literally everyone came out and said the article was stupid and wrong. I think he thought that was the article that was going to catapult him out of Ames, and instead it probably did the exact opposite.

If we win 3 of our first 5 conference games we go 11-7 or 10-8. If we win 2 of 5 we finish conference play 9-9 or worse.

The first 3 road games (Baylor, OK State, and TCU) will be the most informative. Baylor, especially seeing how we handle rangy, athletic players- we have yet to play a team as long and as athletic as Baylor this year.

Every year for the past 5 or so the team has struggled about now or a few games into the Big 12 schedule. I still have hope they will figure it out. Hopefully Prohm continues playing Young more even if he takes his lumps in the Big 12. He is by far the most talented big on the team. You are playing for March not January. The only shot this team has to make any real noise is if he develops in my opinion. Anywhere from 7-11 to 11-7 would be my guess. I'll go 10-8.

11-7 big 12 + win vs. vanderbilt= 20-10
Home Losses: Baylor, West Virginia (Yes I have us beating Kansas at home)
Road Wins: Texas, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma

This team is going to be fine. They tend to play down to lower opponents, especially lately. With the big 12 season starting, I dont think they are going to underestimate anybody and we are going to come to play.

Apparently Udoka Azubuike(sp?) is out for the season for KU. Had started the last 6 games or so

I have them beating Vanderbilt on the road for their final non con game and predict they will go 11-7 in conference and finish 20-10.

I am counting on continued improvement on offense and a more consistent effort on defense. I think this team will continue to get better the more it learns to play with each other.
9-9 at best
Lose at home to ku and Baylor, maybe West Virginia . Hard to find 2-3 road wins.

We're going to go 18-0 in the Big 12 but after the Big 12 screws us out of 8 games I'll go with 10-8.

Did I do that right?

After the top 3, so many games will be dogfights, imo. Hope we can grind out tough wins. Before anyone counts OU as an automatic win, remember their last 3 games were Wichita State, Memphis, and Auburn. Non ranked teams but not exactly Iowa, Drake, and Miss.Valley State. Just sayin

I ran a few quick full-conference game by games thru mred bracket generator earlier today, and came up with 8-10 on most occasions. (One of the scenarios, amusingly, had 5 teams at 8-10. .... the possibility of being swept by KU, BU, WV or even 1-5 vs those teams makes it an uphill climb, plus it appears no team is truly awful this season.

8-10
We might go 0-18 in rebounding margin though
I have bringing been this up repeatedly in CF forums, but despite ISU's smaller lineup it has done very well rebounding.

Only two games have we been outrebounded (Cincinatti and UNO). We shall see how that holds up in B12 play, but the reality is we have not problems with taller teams such as Gonzaga, Iowa, and Miami.

As of today ISU has the 2nd best defensive rebounding rate in the B12 behind Texas Tech. West Virginia, OK State, TCU, Kansas, Baylor, Kansas State, and Texas Tech all currently have better offensive rebounding rates than Iowa State in the B12. Transition offense will be crucial to countering teams who try to send multiple players on the offensive glass.

We're not a bad rebounding team at all

Yeah they have been ok. At times they have been really good and other times It seems as though they tend to get lazy at times blocking out. But Bowie and Young are much better rebounders than Holden so the more they play over Holden the better ISU will be on the boards.
