As a bird guy, I like how Gene jerks the prop Thor the stuffed juvenile American Goshawk around. Gene's goofy, animated, overreactions make him one of my all-time favorites. His marriage to Gilda Ratner was a sweet bonus though ended sadly.

I have a soft spot for Gilda. The hawk is the best part of that bit lol.

I don't know what the exact word is for that balance he found between funny and insane (manic?) but he was perfect at it.

And had that ability to just stand there and be funny. I don't think I've ever seen Don't Start the Revolution without Me so don't know the context but the look on his face as he comes down the stairs kills me.
