Why not promote from within & keep continuity? Rasheed as HC, Clanton OC, Broomfield DC (assuming Heacock retires), just some mix of existing staff?
bold assumption to not think CMC would take them with him

wouldn't Scheelhaase have to wait until his season's over?
Depends if Rams/McVay would let him loose. Commanders let their QB Coach leave early to go to Stanford. Granted they aren't going to the Playoffs.

Jason Eck. Orchestrated turnarounds at Idaho and New Mexico. Need someone with HC experience.
He's my favorite. Did just sign an extension but don't know if that is a major problem or not.

Also it is not the most important thing but seems like a fun dude. Think our fanbase would really like/relate to the guy.

Why would we go after Sean Lewis. He has had two winning season in 8 as a head football coach. I am confused. Our program would die if a coach had that record with us.
In Lewis's defense Kent State is one the 3 worst jobs in the FBS. And he made them respectable. What looks like success there isn't the same as most other schools.

Though, I am a bit hesitant because he is an offensive guy and hasn't been able to put together good offenses in San Diego.

He didn't entirely gut Toledo when he came to ISU (Candle was OC there & was elevated to HC)
Just thinking they have some sort of succession plan in place given the success of the culture established, so why not continue with the same if it has been working (to an extent)

Candle came to Ames for a week or two...didn't he?

his new buyout is "only" 4 mil.

Honestly, the one thing that MAY benefit ISU here is im pretty sure i thought Blum said the portal starts a month later than it did a year ago. Coincidentally, literally december 5th of last year. MAY give some current players a chance to interact with the new coach, assuming one is hired by then
